Looks like the delivery is as slow as the lens itself

2.8 zooms are great until you actually have to carry them. Plus the Nikon Z is $4000. There's a lot of downsides for just 1 stop.

      • The latest Tamron/Sigma variants perform very well, and due to composite/plastic can be lighter than the all metal variants.

It’s up to choice of course… personally I just carry a 35/1.4 instead.

        • Tomron/Sigma variants for Z mount?

Buy F/4 today and regret later.

Agree with the OP that it's a great lens for a Z camera. Reviews to read everywhere. Buy with confidence! It's usually around $800-1000, the "52% off" is a little overstated.

  • I wish Nikon did a 24-105/4 like canon has.

70-105 is a lot of useful focus lens range that I don't want to miss out on

    • this is half price of Canon RF 24-105/4 though

  • I own and prefer the F4 version of the 24-70. F2.8 is a better lens for sure, but I don't understand why people have to have it. If quality matters, just go for the prime, and it is lighter than the zoom too. People argue that 24-70 is 4 primes in one lens, it is not, F2.8 doesn't compare to F1.8 or F1.4 or even wider, and seriously, you don't need all the focal lengths, you need quality glass for what focal lengths you are familiar with and good at. You should just move to find the best composition rather than standing there and zoom.

When quality is not as important, F4 is perfect. And F4 plus the prime you are good at is still likely be cheaper than the F2.8 zoom.

    • I have to have a 24-70 f2.8 when I'm shooting events. More often than not, you won't have time/chance to keep changing prime lenses. Plus when traveling I like the zoom (and f2.8) than carrying 2/3 lenses to compensate. I do love the Z primes, and use a 85mm 1.4 AF-S with 70-200 f2.8 Tammy G2 as well.

      • I agree with you in that, f2.8 zoom is a practical tool for pro especially for event photography , and the more robust build would help too. For other types of photography when you have time to prepare, such as landscape or studio, it can do but not as ideal. For efficiency, f2.8 zoom is a good tool for pros to earn money, for fun and for quality, other options may be better for enthusiasts.

  • All over. Price back up.

  • Got an update from Amazon, looks like its coming this week.
