It's a decent price but do note that stores like Peters of Kensington, Kitchen Warehouse, Victoria's Basement etc. just about always sell Scanpan for well below RRP, so this is more in line with it being marked down from $45-$55, not $95+

    • They used to be $135 RRP, discounted to $85 when I got mine and regret not on price but on quality of the pan.

      • What's wrong with the quality?

Beware of it's super-stick surface and brownie discolor after few uses, will never look at any Scampan ever again. Cheaper series not make in Denmark.

    • The super stick surface is the same as all un-coated stainless steel pans right?

      • Not mine, even pan fry beacon with oil still stick, hope yours are "Different" to mine.

        • I have had the same experience with our Scanpan. Used many times without issue, now everything just sticks to the pan like glue.

        • See below.

      • Yep.

Can't say I've had that problem, I have several Scanpan pieces and they're fine. Most of whether stainless steel sticks or not is to do with temperature management and waiting for things to release than anything else, and although it doesn't build up a seasoning, I do find all SS pans get less sticky with use. Oil can overheat and discolour any pan obviously, just use Barkeepers Friend to clean it. All of my SS items (across all brands) are at least 7 years old and none of them have any discolouration with regular cleaning. Seems kind of like you're either doing something wrong or have unrealistic expectations…

      • I have gone thru a lot of checking with the supplier, they are not going to return nor exchange, as I can see the steel composite is not even when I first fire up the pan, some dots appear in the pan at random places, soon they turn brown/dark, I would mostly said it's a bad batch. After few cooks the discolor spread and I have tried many way to clean it, but nope they are still there and will be there forever. Also it's not unrealistic expectations when you paid close to $100 for a 'good' brand, if I paid around $10 I would have no expectation. Brought it because mum used to have one last forever, and now I have one that will also sit in the corner forever.

BTW I didn't neg the deal from my bad experience with Scampan.

    • The black ones are pretty good, you can even use metal utensils and no problem with scratches. But they are made in Denmark, so you might have a point on that

    • I think there is misconception about the intended cooking method with different cooking materials. The point of using a stainless steel pan as oppose to the non-stick variety is that steel pans create a much better browning effect on the surface of food- an essential element of the Maillard effect and what creates complex flavours. It is the "sticky" property of stainless steel which allows meat to adhere to the surface well and be browned uniformly. When the browning crust is well formed, the meat should come off the pan easily. What remains on the pan, i.e. the "brown stuff" is the next essential ingredient in making sauces. The French calls it 'fond', which is deglazed with wine or stock to release all those complex flavours into the sauce.

I would like to know someone that bought a Scanpan at RRP

    • I can't think anyone of buying at full RRP but may be $50 to $60 is there regular price

  • Ikea prob have a better fry pan? clad pan?

    • You probably right but many people can't be bother going to ikea just for the frypan. My closest ikea store is 15km and that's why I bought this one as it has free delivery and better price

      • I thought this Scanpan frypan is sticky and didn't have many positive reviews in the past.
