Fiji Holidays

Hi guys, Im thinking of going to Fiji for my 30th birthday ( yes im getting old haha ) Im looking at Fiji as the destination with a few girlfriends. Thinking of one of the all inclusive deals where drinks food etc is all included. Does anyone know of any good resorts that offer these deals or anywhere good to stay in general! Seems like there are 1000s of places and different areas. Is there night life nighclubs etc in Fiji?? Thanks in advance :)

    Hi

If you pick a resort, they would have their own night clubs where you can have a really good time. There are heaps of resorts on the Coral Coast such as the Fijian Resort or the Warwick where you can find the all inclusive packages.

You might also want to look up island resorts on the Mamanuca Group in Fiji. To give you some names- Beachcomber, Treasure Island etc.

Or check out Denarau - which is like a tourist hub where you can find quite a few large hotels- Hilton/Sheraton etc. Denarau has a good night life and is just 6-10 kms from the airport. Plus you could make day trips to island resorts from there.

    Hope this helps

      This is good advice.

Quite different vibe in Treasure vs Beachcombers though, even though they're only 200 metres of ocean apart. Beachcombers seemed to have more a backpackers-dorm life-is-short-so-party-hard type-of-vibe - I could be wrong though, I was on treasure, this is simply the impression I formed from the late-night pounding doof-doof noise coming from there + the somewhat-hung-over overly-loud buffed-young-guys/adolescents who swam over from beachcombers. Treasure is more 30s up, with some families with kids, but mostly couples. Both are good, depending on what you're looking for.

Denarau is also supposed to be good, from what family have told me - personally I like tropical islands surrounded by reef that I can snorkel and beaches I can flop out on, the quieter the better, and am happy to accept that the accommodation is usually much more basic in these conditions. Denarau is very modern though - golf carts, modern hotels, etc - so if you more want nightlife and mod-cons, then flying into Nadi, a 30 minute bus ride to Denarau, and then taking perhaps a day-trip to the islands if it appeals, could be a good option.

Most of the inclusive package deals you'll see will be the Fijian Resort or the Warwick, as mentioned above, on the coral coast (on the main island).

Go to the Naviti Resort, visit the village next door and have some kava with the locals. I first went to the Naviti in 89. Im still friends with the locals from the village. In fact last time i visited (2 years ago) I did not stay at the resort, I stayed in the village and swam next door in the Naviti pool :-) Make sure you go snorkelling east of the village.

      {Make sure you go snorkelling east of the village.}

      Hmmmmmm…..

      Lols.

      • Make sure you go snorkelling there as the rest of the area is a PROTECTED area for endangered coral and fish.

  • Thank you so much I'm learning!!! Keen to no as much as possible so I can find the right place and of course the right price ;)

You probably can't get a package deal as follows but I would recommend splitting time up in Denarau and 1 or 2 islands, depending on length of your trip.

    1 or 2 nights Denarau
Denarau has about 6 resorts now, maybe more. All are good. You cannot really swim off the beach there. It is a very small beach and not all resorts are beach front.

    Islands -
watersports - musket cove, Mana island
partying, hooking up, snorkelling etc - beachcomber (good for backpackers, food is very avg though)
most others are good for couples or friends (all you're gonna do is swim/snorkel/jetski, eat, drink a little, lay on beach, sleep, massage etc)

Intercontinental at Natadola (mainland - 30 min drive from Nadi) is excellent. Not cheap though. Excellent pool and good to just laze around

I have been to Fiji loads of times now but always stay at Denarau - I love the Sheraton because you can use both the Sheraton and Westin facilities (but the rooms and nicer at the Sheraton IMO)… www.myfiji.com usually have good packages which include breakfast and dinner - and the vast majority of hotels on Denarau have beautiful restaurants!

Have heard that the resorts further have better beach facilities as the beach in Denarau isnt very good but I much prefer the pool to the beach so that doesnt bother me…

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

  • South Sea island is like a party island

  • Go to the backpacker- younger place.

Nothing'll make you feel fab than a bunch of young dudes who like older chicks. Believe me, they are out there.
