Which monitor would you recommend?

Hi all,

I have 3 of these https://www.viewsonic.com/au/products/lcd/VA2451m-LED which are starting to play up. They are monitors provided by work and I have had them for about 4 years using them 8 to 9 hours a day, 5 days a week.

They were are the business prior to my employment of 4.5 years. The manufacture date appears to be around 2013.

So time for some new ones. Out of these 2, what would recommended? Or is there something similar? Budget is about $1200.

I am running 3 monitors on a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card.

The 3 monitors would be mounted on these monitors arms which I am currently using - https://www.dropbox.com/s/brwkxda342qx606/2021-07-26%2010.04…

  • You can usually pickup the S2721Q for $250-$279 during eBay and Dell sales. That would easily fit your budget.
If you don't need the 4k, you could drop down to 2k@75hz with the S2721D for around the same price. That's a whopping 15 more hz.

I can't easily see your monitor mounts, but I assume they are VESA? Certainly an interesting setup. I only know one song in your liked list :(

Don't necessarily need the 4K. Just future-proofing the monitors I guess was my main thing.

These are the monitor mounts that we bought a few years ago - https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5gnhmrmqukei8t/Screenshot%202021-…

      Certainly an interesting setup.

The aim was to have a cleaner desk without monitor stands. It is a bit messy at the time of the pick.

      What song was that?

        The Living Years.

        • Yeah, good song.

Yeah, it is VESA - 100x100.

I'll get the Dell ones. They seem to be a winner!

      Thanks everyone!

    Go with the Dell:
    - Better warranty when compared with Lenovo.
    - More connectivity.
    - PIP & PBP Support
    - Better looking.

    • Great, thanks for the feedback.

  • From what I read 4k is good on 32 inch ones 2k on 27 inch.

  • Why not get 3 x 32" ?

    • Not enough desk space nor would my mount arm cope with it. Max is 27" for the monitor arms.

  • I like your setup @geekcohen

I have 1 Dell S2721 (1440p, adjustable stand version). I think 3 would look great, nice slim bezels

  • Just had to comment @geekcohen… what's it like working on websites where you:

    • use !important everywhere…
    • write in php 🤮
    • write inline css in your html 🤣
    • use… jquery but not as component driven plugins??!!? 🤢

    must be super gross?

btw, someone is watching you through your webcam.
