    Not MFi.

That's gunna be a no from me dog.

    Appreciate your honesty.

    • First rep that I've ever seen such overwhelming honesty from. Was going to neg it as it's not MFI certified, but the rep has been honest so I'll just leave a comment below.

  • Whist I no longer buy non-mfi cables because I find they become unreliable quickly, Have an upvote for disclosing it.

Thanks for the honesty. How do we find the genuine MFI cables one?

  • not an apple user, what happens when using non-mfi cables? I've read they will not work after an update, but is it data only? does it still charge the device?

    • The MFI chip also ensures that the i device is receiving safe power, if the MFI chip is damaged or not there the i device won't charge cause it hasn't received the power good signal. So yeah, an update would also prevent the device from charging

MFi is the licence you pay Apple to get the 100% clear the cable meets their standards. So brands that are MFi listed you can be sure are good but because they pay a royalty to Apple, the prices will be higher.

I personally use the one cable I got with my iPhone as the primary charger, but all my other cables (eg computer, car, living room) are all 'cheap' ones I've tried and tested. I tend to buy a couple and try them out (and think its worth saving, compared to a $10 cable haha).

So it comes down to $avings for a cable that might be average, or paying more for Apple's guarantee and will likely last longer.

      • I agree, I have several Baseus cables (the hydra headed ones) and they work fine (and continue to work fine after multiple o/s upgrades), I have a cheapie no name in the car, some other small 15cm black cable from a unknown source, and genuine Apple cables…they all work fine for both power and data…luck of the draw I suppose.

Really appreciate the honesty rep, was going to post where these were sourced from Alibaba and neg, but never seen a honest rep like you, and I can't be bothered….
