Do You Like Spam (Canned Meat)?

Someone mentioned to see a poll on who liked Spam.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10848153/redir

I often find most people often love it cult following or hate it, find it cheap and nasty.

I'm curious to know how much this also has to do with culture/ ancestry and upbringing.

  • Spam fritters are the biz!

  • Hawaiians love spam, must be an Asian thing

    • I thought Hawaiians were Pacific Islanders.

  • Yes, great for quick meals, and also camping meals!

  • How do they cook the spam before tinning it?

  • I've come across some cafes serving this for breakfast.

ITT: i do not like ham in a can. I do not like it sam i am

  • So from this I've gathered there are alot of south east asians on oz bargain 😄 Spam and corned beef, pantry staples.

      It's possible, but this isn't a census.

The poll could attract people that are much more interested in spam, so you have that bias.

    Spam comes from a can,
It was put there by a man
    In a factory downtown.

    • downtown doesn't rhyme with man or can

      • If I had my little way,
        I'd eat spam every day
        Sun-soakin' bulges in the shade

        Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of spam
        Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat me a lot of spam
        Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of spam
        Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of spam.

          Millions of spam
          Spam for me
          Millions of spam
          Spam for free

          LOOK OUT!

  • Spam original i like as well as the Turkey and corned beef.

And yes I can and have eaten them out of the can.

  • Have to be in a bad place to eat it even worse rock bottom to pretend I like it.

  • Spam in hot pot or pan fried spam in a sandwich with an omelette. THE BEST.

    Migoreng, eggs and spam!

    • Username does not check out

  • Spam is like huge in Korea.

    • im pretty sure the can's were the pretty similar size when i went there a few years ago

  • Spam is available at McDonald’s in Hawaii for breakfast.

  • As a white man, I used to think Spam was yuck. Then some of my Filo friends introduced me to a world of Fried spam with eggs and rice. My life has changed ever since :)

  • I'm of mixed North American descent. I don't recall my parents being particularly in to Spam but I think I would have acquired my taste for it through Boy Scouts. I don't particularly eat it very much these days (my partner, of Anglo-Australian descent, hates it) but when I do it's fried up with eggs and/or rice. I actually bought some the other day specifically to make up a batch of fried rice because I'd been craving it.

  • I don't mind spam and it's handy to have a can or two in the pantry, but it's really far too salty.

    • +1

Need to get the low salt ones.

      • Sodium content has been lowered from 790 mg to 580 mg per serving.

A serving is 56 grams. A tin is 340 grams

    • You are not supposed to eat the whole thing in one go. Just like vegemite.

    • Yeah I wish they made a no salt version.

It is quite tasty without it and you can always add some to taste yourself.

  • My Korean friend loves spam and after watching a few videos on youtube, Koreans in general love spam. I love spam, well I like cooked spam.

Pan-fried spam + wonderbread is the best sandwhich.
