Has My Reolink Account Been Hacked?

Today I notice 3 new cameras showing up on my Reolink app.
Two are offline, one asked for password when I tap on it.

I have several Reolink devices and I know those 3 are not mine.
I looked at the camera type and serial numbers and I don't have them on my record.
Two of them are also E1 which I never bought.

Should we be concerned?

    Serious reply only please.

    Damn!

    • Ok you win.
      Removed this line

  • Do they have names or MAC addresses you can view?

    • They have a unique identifier (UID) for each device, unless OP has disabled it.

I suppose OP could match the UID in the app with the physical devices they have, if they could be bothered. Easier to reset and re-configure from scratch, that way they'll know they're safe moving forward.

    • Yes I can see their camera serial numbers (UID).
      I don't have own those.

  • Factory reset and start again

    • Whaaat..

      • You wanted serious reply only, we gave you serious reply only. :)

        • Ok fair enough.. :)
I just concern if Reolink was hacked

    Serious reply only please.

Not sure how we're meant to know if you've been hacked.

    Regardless,

    1) Reset your reolink account/app password,
    2) Factory reset all your cameras, and re-set them up, using non-default passwords, and
    3) Remove any cameras that aren't yours from your reolink app.

    • Thanks.. already changed to strong password from the start

Change it again just to be sure

And then a third time just in case

Thanks a lot everyone. I just concern if Reolink has been hacked and everyone is at risk (including me)

  • Events are starting to remind me of this thread.

  • Ditch the Reolink app and use Blue Iris. It's more secure and eliminates any backdoor.

    • What makes it more secure?

You'd be hosting it by yourself on a private server to which only you would have access to. To make things even more secure you'd host the cameras on a WAN Blocked VLAN then access BI via a Private VPN.

        • Interesting. I will check them out.

Can't use reolink app for most (if not all) battery powered reolinks, unfortunately.

I've used neolink (https://github.com/thirtythreeforty/neolink) for a Lumus and it works well, though

      • Damn that sucks. I had to do something similar to get my Ring doorbell to record to BI. It's janky but it works.

  • Whats a Reolink account?
Do explain please and how do you use it

Reolink is a brand of networked cameras you can use in your home for security or monitoring purposes, connected to the internet.

You can sign up for a free account with Reolink if you want and view your cameras via the internet on a computer, tablet or smartphone. You can also choose not to do that and use other software instead. But most people would use a Reolink account and Reolink's mobile app as it's easier.
