  • Is this made from Gladys’ green shoots?

    • +1

      Its made from Natural ingredients

  • Product claims to "Restore thinning hair" - amongst many others.

Seller provide evidence to support these claims - as I am calling BS on you peddling massively overpriced snake oil.

PS. Am 99% sure this seller had posted same deal up earlier and it got hammered (appears to have been deleted) so he's done so again using new identity. Buyer beware

Hair Growth Oil has multiple benefit and restore thinning hair is one of it.

    Hi OP

My GP prescribes me oral finasteride, which I combine with OTC topical minoxidil, and I've succeeded in maintaining hair at my vertex and retarding recession at my temples.

I read meta-analyses on both medicines to understand their therapeutic effectiveness and side-effect profile before making an informed decision.

Can you please provide evidence-based data to support your product and it's advertised medical claims?

    Thankyou for your time.

    • Any recommendations for cheap/reasonable Minoxidil? Seems like a bit of effort but wouldn't mind trying it (easier with short hair it sounds). Can't help thinking of the episode with George Costanza and the video camera getting footage of his head episode lol.

Some people have mentioned ebay, any reputable sellers? Apparently Rogaine comes on special here (with cash back occasionally). cheers,

      • +1

I started with Regaine (liquid) from chemist when on special, which was ~$18/bottle. I get more than 2 months from a bottle.

I've switched to Kirkland (liquid) off resellers on eBay, which can be had for $12-15/bottle, no waiting for specials, and order the number of bottles you need. Find a reseller with a good rating and high sales.

        • Cheers, found one that's $20 per bottle, $40 for 3 months probably works out better.
          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/203475045607?hash=item2f600ecce7…

I imagine it's the type of thing you have to maintain and the results will disappear once you go off it, or will finesteride only hold onto most of the results.

          cheers,

        • Got some of that ebay stuff to test (about 12$ a bottle).
Was never going to bother with it have a small patch that can use a little improvement.
The stuff gets on your fingers and spreads around a bit, can't imagine using it for ever, twice a day is even a bit much effort but will see how it goes.
I think Finesteride alone does most of it.

          • @G-rig: There is more work involved in applying a topical medicine than the oral route.

I've personally reduced to once daily rather than two. I've read a little about there not being a significant therapeutic difference. And I want my one application to be done thoroughly down to the root of my hair and spread best across the parts of my scalp I'm targeting, and I'd like to do this at night and avoid doing it in the morning when I style.

Both medicines have two different and separate mechanisms of action to achieve therapeutic effect, and independently they are the two in which clinical evidence is available to support their use. I'm not aware of any data or information on single-use finasteride against combination. So I use both because that's where the evidence lies.

Both medicines require continuous use to persist with their therapeutic benefits. Cessation will lead to more quickly developing alopecia to the extent you would have developed in their absence.

Perhaps most importantly, the expectation here is not one of regrowth (necessarily) but one of slowing alopecia which will continue at a retarded rate.

A subset of younger men who use finasteride and minoxidil (and perhaps other alternatives) will proceed to considering follicular unit transplantation (the modern version of hair transplanting) once their alopecia is at a more developed stage. Like any decision on androgenic alopecia, this will come down to considerations of cosmesis and age, side-effects or complications, and costs.

            • @muwu: That's true and you quickly work it out that it's not worth it - twice a day is a bit too much and i have short hair and no product
At night would be ok at most. Can't stand that kind of stuff, and oils that get on everything you touch.

Been using Finasteride for a lot of years and it's very simple. I'm sure propecia etc works by itself or no one would bother with it. Would probably be bald if I wasn't taking it. Would be more interesting to know if the generic Proscar/Finasteride works as well as Propecia. I think it also has to do with other factors like stress and blood flow/stimulus.

Just keen to see if it stimulates growth where there was a sore or two that hair wasn't growing.

I wouldn't even bother (and haven't) with topical if there wasn't promise of regrowth, why would you bother otherwise? Whatever will happen will, pretty low maintenance and therapeutic doing blade one and worrying about other stuff to be honest. even hair getting messed up is annoying ha.

Anyway may just try that once a day (or not twice every day at least), no point if any gains are lose straight away as soon as you stop (but taking a quarter of a pill a day is no effort at all)

            • @muwu: I'm not aware of any data or information on single-use finasteride against combination. So I use both because that's where the evidence lies.

A quick search found this study, there would be many more.
              https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9777765/

I'm not sure what you mean by single-use but I'm sure you can use Finasteride without using Minoxidil as well. Of course for best results you'd assume both is best. I got it now so may as well use but too much effort long-term. You'd want to check if one day instead of two day application is till effective too. Cheers,

Virgin Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera, Basil, Curry Leaves, Almond oil, Hibiscus, Fenugreek, Kalonchi, Mustard, Ambla, Bringarag, Brahmi, Cloves, Shallot, Ginger, Henna, Camphor, Black paper, Lemon peel, Rosemary, Neem, Extra Virgin Olive Oil*.
*All above ingredients are natural and play a vital role in growing and maintaining hair naturally.

Black paper - like from officeworks?
Ambla - like the small town in Estonia?
    Bringarag - like…umm… a made up word?

literally none of these ingredients will help with hair growth, but they can be used as a chicken marinade….

    • Rosemary oil is scientifically proven to increase hair growth

    • Need Bringarag to clean up all the oil.

Snake oil alright, no proof or evidence based trials or testimonials.. just.. it's made from natural ingredients.. so is my soap.

Recommend just going to the GP, get a script for finesteride, cut pills into quarters ~ 1mg/day. Costs $30 per 4 months and actually works.

  • +2

    Cheaper here…

  • Pretty amazed OzB hasn't deleted this post and banned the OP. If we're allowing folks to post up medical products claiming completely unsupported or documented benefits/cures.

This is what the OP claims on their site:

Make Strong Hair Roots, Control dandruff, Reduce Hair Loss, Stronger, Thicker, Longer Hair, Restore Thinning Hair, Deep conditioning the scalp, deep nourishing, stop scalp itching, promote hair growth, Revitalises hair tissues & Strengthen Hair Roots, Delays premature greying & offered black and shining hair, Soft and silky hair structure, nourishing effect gives an overall new life to your hair

Their response to requests to provide evidence supporting any of this: search yourself there's plenty out there, we're giving a discount and trust us. LOL

Anyone who buys this PLEASE contact me as I've also got a hell of a deal for you in some shares in the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a heavily discounted timeshare on a beautiful little townhouse on the Moon. ;-)

  • There'd be nothing worse than oil over everything.. testing some Minoxidil oinment and that's bad enough, not even sure why ii got it, and not really using regularly. nights may be ok but probably a waste of money no doubt
