awesome game.. worst port from a console I can ever remember… cars literally disappear before your eyes.. frame rates are a complete joke and don't go near a mirror.. there's some wierd artifacting going on..

      • There was recently a patch for the game to have DX11 features. This might have improved the performance of the game since launch. You'll have to research these facts before buying it as I can't verify from personal experience.

      • GTA IV was worse.

        • Yes, but it got so much better. If you had the hardware to play it, it was quite enjoyable. I lurrrrrrved the video editor. S'good.

        • If you had the hardware?

That was the entire problem in the first place. The game refused to give you a steady 30FPS even with a GTX 580 and a Quad Core.

One of the worst optimised ports in history. No SLI support either.

  • Great deal but their download speed is horrible!

  • It would have been a good deal if you didn't have to use their capsule program. The last time I used it, it wouldn't even go near 100 KB/s. Imagine trying to download a 10 GB file!

  • so you cant redeem this on Steam I assume?

    • I hope so. I'm going to base my decision on if its a steamworks game or not.

    • Nah, they cd key didn't work on steam. Had to use that capsule to download it. The speeds are pretty decent for now, going about 500 kb/s

      • Better than the speed I've had with Steam lately. Activated 2 games on there (Alan Wake & AvP) and both had an average of 100kb/s even though my location settings were correct & my internet speed is easily capable

Its a shame its not Steam activated though for LA Noire, I prefer that for convenience

      • Getting 1.2mbps at the moment for those wondering about the speeds. On optus cable.

        • "Getting 1.2mbps at the moment"

          That equates to only 150KB/sec.
          That's terrible.

        • it was going about 500s for a hr, then drops to about 120 kb/s….

        • Mine is continually spiking between 100kB/s and 500kB/s, mostly the former.

So tempted to buy, but the cd key doesnt work with steam?
Whats the capsule? another steam like application? do you have to launch the game through capsule? or is it just a means of downloading the game?

The recent DX11 patch improved performance a lot.

Also the 60fps patch makes the game very very nice.

    • Mind posting a link to the 60FPS patch that you're using? :D
I read that it breaks the facial animations?

Game is much better after latest patch, the Directx 11 improves performance and the game has lost many of its graphical glitches. Some remain and also this patch would not work for XP machines.

Wish I played it from now, it's left a bitter taste in my mouth and the game deserved better.

  • Your referral link just gets me to the greenmangaming landing page. Is it supposed to work like that?

    • Yup. It does a redirect to the main site but still registers (same with Play-Asia)

  • Already played this on 360, but I recommend the game if it's 10 bucks.

  • As if it's not on Steam :/

If not for the simple convenience of having it in my Steam library, I need it for the unmetered downloads.

  • What a total waste of 13.3GB worth of downloads. Won't even launch for me. Tried the usual tricks listed at various sites, but nothing happens after I launch.

  • Just a tip xuqi, if you have kaspersky antivirus you may need to disable it upon installation!!

    • Thanks, I have Bitdefender. I disabled it, but it made no diference.

      • I had same issue but managed to resolve it.

Try re-installing it to a folder without a space.
        I.e. to C:\LANOIRE instead of default install "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\L.A.Noire"

This is a very stupid bug which should be very obvious for them but somehow managed to slip through.

      • Also if you have a laptop with Nvidia Optimus you need to download the LATEST drivers (I had both problems)

Just so you know if you know how to access event viewer you should be able to see the reason for it not launching.
