    the bigggggggggger the betttttttttttttttter!!

I was planing on getting a projector at some point, but the way things are going, I'll just get a giant screen tv. Yes projectors can go much bigger at 150" or whatever, but their HDR performance is crap.

    • +1

Yeah and resolution and brightness is lacking on Projectors

      • Yes but the sheer size makes projectors more special.

      • Its the blacks that's the biggest issue for me. The darkest they go is a light grey lol.

        • +1

You’ve never viewed a JVC D-ila Pj then.

          • +3

@Vieira4: Youre talking $10K for an entry level model for them. Even still brightness is barely over a couple hundred nits and black levels are still badly lifted. Its like an average LCD panel. The high end models i dont think are even sold here as they would be probably 30K, maybe only through special orders. OLED and Dual Cell offer basically perfect blacks. Don't try and compare black levels on a projector. Im guessing you've never seen an OLED in a dark room before.

            • @Whisper Quiet: I guess you've never watched a 130" OLED panel in a dark room before :P

            • @Whisper Quiet: Oleds are good I agree, but a pj with a 2.35:1 screen ratio is amazing. No black bars.

              • @Vieira4: You can get the biggest size possible but doesn't change the picture quality, brightness, contrast, black levels etc. Projectors have great size but lack in every other department. I, like most people have seen $100K projectors in the best cinemas and it doesn't hold a candle to picture quality you can get on a flagship TV. If you're in a dark room with an OLED or Dual Cell, you don't notice the black bars because its the same colour as the room… Black. Maybe you're comparing it to mid level LCD so you think its comparable to a projector. Its a huge step up

      por que no los dos?

      • Que?

I love the "big" of a projector. Bought a BenQ 4K for about $2500 from the US with 4 year warranty and throw it over 3.5m onto a 3mx4m screen. Along with surround sound, its a great cinema atmosphere. That said, a mate's 55" OLED makes me want to watch movies all over again. The projector will eventually go into some kind of living room space with an even bigger screen, but waiting for big TV's 80" OLED to drop in price to become the main screen.

      • Yeah Dolby vision on a good large oled is amazing

      • May I ask what do you have for Surround sound?

    • I reckon it's the way to go.

I have a home theater setup with a 130-inch 2.40:1 aspect screen, and I'm about to replace it all with an 85-inch tv in the loungeroom and re-purpose the theater.

  • ?Does this have native 100hz or
    More

    • 100hz added to OP

  • Is there a huge price diff. for 200Hz native?

There isn't a 200hz native. Its either 60 or 120. In Australia they limit the hz to 100 or 50 on panels only for the TV broadcast signals. But Apps, HDMI, USB, ports etc can still get the full output of 120hz.

    many nightmare stories

Just giving my experience- I grabbed the KD75X9500H (Seconds) on eBay's Sony Store for $2896 back in late April and it was faulty. The TV would turn on, audio would work but the screen would have no image. It would then intermittently work then stop while watching. After 3-4 weeks with chatting with support and creating a PayPal case they arranged to collect the TV and issued me a brand new model as they had no more seconds units left. Great service all round from Sony's eBay team!

    • Sounds like a very good deal to me!

    • Am I misreading or did you have to get PayPal involved to get an equitable outcome?

      • +2

I opened a PayPal case to protect myself in case they weren't so helpful. Thankfully they were

85" is huge! Need to have a bigger living room first haha

Is the 55" A80J OLED for $2515 a good deal as well?

    • +1

I am thinking about this as well but for the 65' one, we should be able to get that $200 cashback.

      • +1

        Should work

      • +1

They sent a Sony invoice the last time I bought a tv on the eBay store so should work.

*$200 cashback THE OFFICIAL SONY AUSTRALIA EBAY STORE (on brand new products only, excludes any refurbished products)

  • I guess 85 inch is apt for a viewing distance of 12 feet.

  • I don't have eBay Plus, but if the code works, would bring the 65" X9500H down to $1799.10 I think?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284389028610?hash=item4236e83302…

    Can anyone confirm?

    • Confirmed that is the price just do eBay plus trial

    • +1

I got this message at checkout "Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order."

  • +1

Looks like the Code expired ?

    • Both still in stock maybe the code expired or is being fixed, I'll ask dealbot it was supposed to be till 12pm

  • 85 is OOS - already?!

    • Quick and the dead!

      • No, looks like what happened was that the price was $3,300 instead of $4,300. Now it is back to $4,300 and is in stock.

        • He is talking about the 85X9000H which is indeed out of stock now

          • @[Deactivated]: I def. mean the 85X9000H. I have a screenshot on my phone showing the price $3,299 and Out of Stock. But now it is $4,295 and in stock.

            • @seb: That’s the price for seconds. Seconds for the 9000 are out of stock now

  • Those legs probably won’t fit on nose entertainment units

    • +1

It would have to be a big nose….

  • Will sony honour the $200 cashback if I buy 65inch A80J with the code?

  • F me sideways, that's a lot of TV for a decent price.

    If I didn't have my 65Q7 I would've jumped on this. Hmmmm think I should've you the 75P7 when I was shopping :(

    • You should have jumped on your 65q7 and got it then

  • Anything in the 65-75 inch range for those who don't want to sit 10m from the TV?

    • 85" means I have to sit 2ft from the screen to get a cinematic experience :)

  • It’s already expired. Was this only a 2hr flash sale??
    https://www.ebay.com.au/e/coupon-offers/10-off-tech-ebay-tue…

    • Yes looks like expired 6.30pm

  • Code no longer working?

  • +1

Filthy I missed out on the x9000h!

  • Good luck buying from these jokers.

  • What are previous experiences with seconds remotes? Do they supply new remotes with these TVs or are they normally used?

  • anyone know any sony seconds/factory outlet stores in melb SE suburbs
wanting to get a 43" for my study…/racing setup

  • Anyone know how the viewing angles compare between the 8000 and 9000 series? I'm lookiing to get a big screen to show tribute videos at events.

    • +1

They're not great as neither have x wide viewing angle. So blacks will look grey and brightness and colour will be washed out on bigger angles.

      • Cheers, thanks for the info. Might have to look at Samsung.

        • +1

Its usually only the highest models that have the wider angle viewing. QN90A, X95H etc
