  • I know they were removing Tizen but its interesting to see them follow through with it. I'm a little sceptical on some of the features, they promised ECG and BP in Australia for the Active Watch for ages and it never came (you could do BP through an app though). I don't see whether they're doing oxygen sensor which would be nice also? Still though its probably the only few premium Android watches you can get.

    • Future Fitbit will also be running WearOS too

Sad for competition I thought Tizen would provide a decent fight against Google but anyway….

      • As someone who've been using a Tizen watch (Gear S3) for awhile, I think it was inevitable.
Because Google is such a huge player, I don't think Samsung really stood a chance against them.
I for one, welcome the Google overlords and how they'd bring more apps to the watch.
Mainly Google Maps, YT Music (since I have Youtube Red) and more apps from third party developers.

I think the fact that they have decided to merge the OS together to a new platform (whether that was just marketing talk or not I am not sure, but that's what Google and Samsung has been saying), at least is good.

        • Yeah. I am afraid you are right. Sad but true.

          Well… lets see their offerings.

      • It makes sense that future Fitbit would be running WearOS, since they were purchase by Google.

  • The watch has no Google Assistant, Google Pay or YouTube Music on launch…. no promises on real life better battery life. Let's see how long these things take.
That's disappointing as I was looking forward to a new watch. But I've learnt the hard way not to buy something in the hope it will eventually be what i want

  • Dropping the note for fold 😂

    • Unfold the future with the crease phone
Seriously tho, why not, its almost 3x the real estate of candybar phones.

Its curious that only the new S-pen models work on the Fold, it seems they needed to design a softer pen tip to not damage the inner screen. Secondly, do the new pens perform as good as previous iteration

      • Do people actually need the real estate? Then when you told it, it's too fat to put in your pocket. I personally don't want to have to unfold a phone everytime I want to use it either. Flip phones went out of fashion for a reason.

        • agree that the Flip model is a pointless fad, but the Z Fold has a cover display that's comparable to most phones, albeit noticeably slimmer horizontally. Can use it folded for all tasks.

IMO the appeal is having a (small) tablet size screen on a device that fits into a pocket, 'a tablet without carrying a tablet', nicer for media consumption and e-reading

        • Brownlee confirmed it, the specific Z Fold pens have soft retractable heads, a workaround solution so Samsung can claim S-Pen compatibility.

The S-Pen Pro even has a slider people need to flick to Z Fold mode

That crease in the middle still noticeable as ever. The inner camera is 'under the glass' but you can see some image distortion where the camera is.
For productivity, seems better to get a tablet + keyboard cover afterall 🤔

The tech still not quite perfect yet

  • I just had 1 of each phone in my hand. I can't have a peek yet because of Covid.
