Felix Mobile - Terrible Reception on Voda Network, What to Do?

Hello, I recently started using Felix as my main internet provider as I am unable to get NBN on this property.
The first month with Felix was great and I was getting constant 20mbps or 2MB+ download speeds.
Now into the second and third month and the service has been constantly plagued with disconnections, websites not loading at all and low reception bars/dropping to 3G/dropping out completely. The disconnects per day are probably in the hundreds. I live in a suburb close to the Adelaide CBD so this isn't an issue normally.

I'm pretty sure the problem is the Vodafone phone tower in the area, which seems to be absolutely terrible since the storms that happened at the end of my first billing cycle.
I've tried putting the SIM in other phones and also a 4G router and get exactly the same issues. The service still seems to be decent if I'm using it outside the area that I live in.

My question is, how can I actually escalate or fix this issue? Since it's most likely a Vodafone network issue and not a Felix issue, what can I do?

Churn to an Optus or Telstra network provider?

You can try contacting Felix/Vodafone and explain them the issue that you are facing particularly after the storms and see if they are willing to check the tower.

Another fix is you can move to another provider, Telstra and Optus both provide mobile(4g/5g) home broadband or you can go with other companies that use telstra/optus network (many such providers out there).

Reception/speed can also vary on the mobile device you are using with the sim, if you are going to continue using it for a longer time then try getting a modem that is AC powered or a portable one(battery powered) if you need to move it around.

  • Vodafone had a number of issues @ 8 years ago, and their new Gm helped turn things around. I hope for Voda and their customers sake, this isn't a sign of things to come. I assume they don't know there is an issue with your tower, but surely other people would be complaining.

The only Felix I have ever heard of is the cat.

At a first step have you spoken to Felix support? Give them a chance to raise it with Voda? Or fix it themselves?Maybe other people in the area are also having issues. Usually the more people that raise it the higher priority it becomes.

Finally, as others have said the next thing to do is move to a new provider.

I've had the exact same experience as OP (Randwick, Sydney), and yes - reception dropped for me too. Testing on different voda/kogan sims showed better reception, but overall slow speeds (what was safely ~30mbps, I'm lucky if I get 10, ~4mbps average).
Lockdown is the assumption for Sydney, maybe congestion ripples across the network?

Felix support has been absolutely useless. Friendly enough, but when it's come to them actually doing anything, or knowing anything about what's happening on the network they have to wait for the "tech team" to get back to them. It took them 5 DAYS to get back and say "there's nothing wrong".

      • Yeah, I figured their support wouldn't actually do anything when I saw their hands-off business model. Might have to go to circles.life again idk
