If you're going to spend this much on a Falcon consider spending a couple hundy more and track down the Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon that Hasbro released in 2008. It's considered the Rolls Royce of Millennium Falcons released on the market, even amongst versions released since. I bought 2 at the time and still have one boxed ;)

Doesn't that take the fun out of building it?

    • +5

The whole point is to build the Lego though…

      • -1

And we thank the builders as damage sets can easily get 5-10% lower than perfect and keeps the liquidity flowing .

        • Wait so I could buy this set, build it, keep for a bit, and then sell it for 95% of purchase price?? himm… so like $50 only out of pocket??

      • I guess some people like to collect it inside the box for whatever reason. Same as how some people keep comics in mint condition (aren't they meant to be read), or unopened action figures (aren't they meant to be played with).

Lol… an apples and bowling balls comparison there mate.

One is a hunk of fossilised-looking, really cheap, matte-coloured plastic with a disproportionately large cockpit and minimal greebling/detailing.

The other is an epic construction project and a much, MUCH more interesting static model to look at, that can be customised, disassembled and embellished by the buyer to their heart's content (including all kinds of 3rd-party stands, lighting kits and display options).

Generally speaking, the kind of AFOLs who will take the time to build a 7,541 piece Millennium Falcon themselves are not mutually inclusive with people who just want to buy a giant toy and put it on a shelf.

I have this kit, bought it as a lockdown project and was not disappointed.

if you plan to buy, figure out where you are going to store it before you do anything else. This thing is absolutely huge.

I've got mine under the glass of my coffee table where I've made a star wars hanger type theme with a light switch for added effect. I don't go out much.

      • Pics for brownie points

      • Agreed, pics please. Sounds awesome

      • As above, a pic please…

      • Yeah we definitely need pics!!

      • +1

Mine sits on a perspex case on top of the coffee table.

  • No afterpay or zip 😰 The Lego purchases arent as noticeable when there isn't $1000 missing from a week's pay.

  • I asked myself, how much lego does $999 get you?

    Product Weight 13.64 kg

    • ..and the admiration of quite a few nerds ;)

  • Is this online only or would stores have stock on shelves still at this price?

  • -1

Its been around for 4 years and isn't on any retirement list so should be going 5 yrs + .
$$$$$ is much better spent on a decent retiring set or a PS5 hehe .

  • Who bought the only one available?

  • There are some things I'll never be able to comprehend…

  • +1

Whenever a long running lego sets starts hitting random stores, I always a strong suspicion it is definitely on the last legs of being retired.

  • It's an investment. 🙂
