I don't know much about these, but seems like a good deal based on usual price of $120
Same thing at aliexpress starts at $98: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002004033744.html

Two colours: pink or yellow

After something that's a bit of fun for the kids (well ok, maybe for me). Have been thinking of trying out 'real' RC cars for a while now, and thought this might be a good entry level one.

Happy to hear from anyone knowledgable about RC cars if there are better options for this price.

    It's really basic. I wouldn't pay $68 let alone $120.

I understand that its basic, but the video you linked and most of the top comments were quite positive?
What would you recommend over this for the same price? Genuinely interested, I haven't purchased it yet so if there's something better for the money I'm keen to hear it

Edit: actually, did you watch the video you linked? I just watched the whole thing and if anything it has confirmed that I want to buy it haha

Unless you're really after an 18th scale truck wait for a deal on this. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/640800
Pay $16 more and you get a LOT more car for the money. Plus you'll have plenty of advice online when things go wrong or when you want to upgrade it because it's a very popular model. There are tons and tons of cheap brushed RC cars from China. Many don't have parts support or even a community behind it. When something breaks how are you going to fix it? And what if you decide you want to upgrade it where are you going to get the parts from? These are the pitfalls of ready to run RC cars.

        • Noted, and sounds like good advice. I have ordered this one already, but I did consider some of the things you've mentioned.

Although this particular one not super popular, a couple of youtubers have noted that the chassis and most of the parts are generic PXtoys stuff, of which there are a lot of models. So hopefully if / when things need replacing it won't be impossible

@mr626: Was just browsing Banggood and this looks like a better deal.

            https://www.banggood.com/ZD-16427-Racing-1-or-16-2_4G-4WD-El…

16th scale so its slightly bigger than the EAT10. LED lights, metal gears, oil filled shocks. ZD Racing is a better known brand.
Shocks greatly effect handling and they're usually a $15-$20 upgrade for cheap ones. That's if you can find one that fits.

            • @Dream-cast: Does look like a good deal, might be worth you posting it separately?

In terms of Eachine being unknown, I'm not too worried. Pretty confident that this one is actually a PXtoys 9300 'Sandy land' which is fairly well known, so parts should be around I hope.

Brushed motor. I guess it's a good basher if you just want to see if you're interested in rcs.

I'd recommend the wltoys 124001 when it goes on sale, easily the best budget rc. Simple upgrades to a higher kV motor and esc and you'll be hitting 120+ km/h

    • Thanks, was just reading about brushed vs brushless. There is actually a brushless version of this as well, but as expected costs a bit more. Yes, I see the wltoys one mentioned a lot, can see why it is recommended often.

I've ordered a yellow one anyhow, if nothing else my son will love it. Will post back with some feedback once I've had it for a while

I'd highly recommend buying extra parts while your at it. Suspension arms, pins and maybe gears. These things are completely different from kids rc stuff, they tend to break bits and bobs.

Nothing more kill joy than having to wait 3 weeks just when you're having so much fun.

  • Have fun. Watch your shins and if using inside consider some padding on the front to protect walls and furniture!

One of the main things I've read about brushless motors (I have a couple of helicopters) is that the motors don't overheat as much . On my helos with brushed motors (mainly the tail rotor) the advice is to let them cool down for 10 minutes between batteries.

Nah, no way this thing is being used inside. Backyard / fire trails only I think

Brushless motors are more durable and efficient compared to brushed. They can pump more power into them.

Brushed motors (for rc cars at least) are really just used for entry level ready to race cars.

There really isn't a need to worry about heat until you start running 4s batteries, there are heatsink fans you can buy for the motors.

I pulled out my Jet Hopper I got as a kid in 1986 …that thing got flogged ..still going.

  • Hi,
Not trying to hijack the post but any good recommendations on an rc boat? Something like the wltoys 124001 but for water (not too much $, parts available and forum info on how to mod and fix)

    Thank you
