Terrible Catch Marketplace "Customer Service"

NEVER buy anything from Catch, or a Catch Marketplace seller called Flash Trend!

I bought a USB drive which arrived with grease marks and slow transfer speed in Apr 2021, immediately notified them about the issue and sent across pictures and evidence to seek a partial refund as I don’t have time to post it back to them for a full refund.

Eventually seller agreed to a 30% refund without me having to send the item back (in writing). I then found more issues with the USB in July so I pushed for a 50% refund and they pretended to forget they made the 30% refund offer already. When I spoke to a Catch Marketplace “Customer Service” Rep (Sam), he was trying his hardest to support the seller and not me. Even though he knows the seller made the 30% refund offer before, he argued for them because 3 months have past since the offer was made, the offer may have now expired (even though there was never any expiry date to the offer in the original email). He made that argument before the seller have indicated the offer expired and deliberately planted that idea in their heads. They are not here to serve the customer, they are only there to support the seller.

I asked to speak to a Team leader on 8th of July, was told I would be called back in 1 to 3 business days. I have followed up 4 times by email and phone in the last 1 month, and each time I am told I would get a call back, yet, 5 weeks later, I still have not received a call back, from a Team leader or from Sam. It almost seems like Sam has hidden this matter form his Team leader or his Team leader just doesn’t care. Seems like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in this worst ever customer service of any online marketplace I have ever purchased from. It almost seems like they are just ignoring the matter because they know they should not and cannot force me to send the item back in the middle of a government-imposed lockdown so they are just waiting until lockdown finishes to get back to me.

After 5 months, they still cannot issue a measly refund for a faulty USB drive out of good will for all the crap I had to put up with, even though the seller already previously agreed to a partial refund without requiring me to send the item back.

It’s time other people know about Catch's shady customer service practices so you can spend your money elsewhere.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM CATCH.

Amazon, Kogan are both sooooo much better and they will actually look after you and issue a refund on the spot if there is anything wrong with your product.

Member since 2013 and you didn't know this?

Same applies to Kogan, just FYI!

    • Especially Marketplace sellers…

Ah yes, my mistake, I'll just double down here:

NEVER buy anything from Catch, or a Catch Marketplace seller

      • Many of them are selling on Bunnings and/or Myer already.

    • Fair call.
Well, I bought a pair of shoes last year from Catch (not marketplace seller) where part of the sole came off after 1 month, they were good on that occasion and gave me a full refund without requiring me to send anything back.

Marketplace support team, very different story. I only hope my post helps to save someone else from having to deal with catch "customer service" in the future and serves as a reminder for others to spend their money elsewhere.

Stopped reading the rant after that… You obviously kept using it for 3 months, rather than dumping in the bin. Really you should've found the time to send back and you would've got a full refund…

    • What about "being a terrible customer"?

    • They never promised me a refund. They said once it is sent back (at my own cost), they will inspect the drive. If they cannot replicate the issue, they will send the drive in its current state back to me, with no refund. If there was a 100% guarantee I would have got a full refund on sending it back, I would.

I didn't keep using it for 3 months, it laid around unused for most of that time. I seriously was so busy I had no time to post it back so I thought about letting it go at one stage, but then when I found more problems with it 3 months later, I followed up again.

Ok, you should have a full stop after CATCH. I thought you meant not to buy from all 3. However, from other posts Kogan marketplace could be just as bad.

    • Some merchants use different names on different platforms.

    • Great point. Thank you for one of the few constructive comments. Updated with a new line break as well

Id avoid any marketplace/3rd party sellers, this includes catch marketplace, bunnings marketplace, Facebook, amazon, kogan etc.

You're better off with ebay for 3rd party stuff.

    • Thank you very much for this constructive comment and advice.

Probably cost you more in time to write this out, than what some crappy USB drive on catch even cost. Just buy a reputable brand from a reputable place.

It would have taken 10 minutes to send it back and get a full refund.

I think you are a just an entitled customer operating under the mantra "the customer is always right".

If I could neg a forum post I definitely would with this one.

Also, what was the result of your red light camera fine all those years ago?

In regards to your question about the red light camera fine, you obviously looked that up through the history to try insinuate something about my character, as you were not a member when I made that post and you obviously had to dig through my post history to pull that up. That kind of behaviour is both unnecessary and creepy/ stalker-ish in my opinion. For what it's worth, the magistrate agreed with me on that matter so your insinuation and opinions on that matter are irrelevant at this point.
