  • Can anyone suggest the best quality??

    • Lots of great quality, what type of coffee do you like?

      • Strong but not too strong maybe a little chocolate flavour of chai?

        • +2

Sounds like you'd like something darker. Check through these guys and avoid anything that is has a process labelled as "Natural", and if anything gives a scale of how roasted something is, aim for the darker end of things.

An example is, go find Direct Coffee's deals, the Axil Coffee Roasters 'Vader' blend goes on sale super often, is a decent price at bulk and is a nice, chocolatey dark roast.

Alternatively, Beanstalker from Grounds goes well with milk.

Seven Seeds have their "Golden Gate' blend which is a nice darkly roasted one, and Dukes Coffee has their Market Espresso blend.

Can't speak much for any of the other ones here, I mostly shop local.

  • I recently bought a Gene Cafe coffee roaster and bought a bunch of really high quality green beans to go with them. Green beans last a very long time so I could roast small batches weekly. Quality is amazing and I can adjust the roast to my liking. Also green beans are less than half the price

    • What is the process for roasting them? Just straight up spread in your oven?

      • Na man Gene Cafe coffee roaster is a dedicated coffee roaster. Check it out. Process is easy. You can choose to just straight up roast them at a set temperature like 235c or go a profile roast where you very the temp depending on what stage of the roast you are at. Takea on average 15-20 min to roast about 300grams of coffee

        • Sorry dude I'm an idiot. Thanks for the info.

  • Just be mindful - idk about the single serve and single use filters etc. but a lot of these guys are likely heavily affected by the lockdowns in the eastern states.
Important to raise for two reasons - the coffee might not be super fresh if it was intended for wholesale and the cafes have cancelled orders.
Also just do your bit and support local wherever you can (provided you can do so safely). Small hospo needs us now more than ever.

    • +1

I find with IB at least I can send a message to ask what's the roast date of their stuff - just finished a 12 delivery subscription and didn't have a single bag older than 4 days by the time I got it.

      • Yup, they've got enough volume they are always super-fresh. I order from them all the time

  • Wonder if the free delivery minimum is calculated on pre discount spend?

  • I would imagine most people would be fine for coffee beans if they jumped on that freebie last week lol

    • Is was free for a very short time then it was $25 off and it was a pain to even get into the site and now they are back logged with orders and probably cancelled heaps

  • The Grounds have free delivery if you select the 1kg coffee and/or if use the discount code. So although my total came to be $54, I used the 30% off discount code to get it down to $37.80 but they still gave me free shipping since I ordered a 1kg pack despite being under the $50 total to qualify for free shipping.
