Extension Cable for USB Hub - Looking for Assistance

Hey folks looking for a bit of help.

Context
- I've got a MBP M1 propped up on a laptop stand that I'm hooking up to a USB-C extension hub (https://satechi.net/products/type-c-multi-port-adapter-with-…)
- Essentially, as you can see from the product photo, the cable is not that long, so right now that hub is semi-dangling in the air with the HDMI cord and all my peripherals running across the desk
- Also running power delivery through the hub

Any issues if I use a USB-C extension cord (F to M) to increase the length so that the hub can sit further away? Long term strategic solution would be buy a thunderbolt hub (like an OWC or Caldigit with a DC in), which has a longer detachable extension cord to plug in to my MBP from the hub, plus capabilities for dual 4k in the future if I add a second monitor.

Cheers

  • it's actually a thunder bolt extension cable that you'd need to get the full use of the dock. More info here:

In short, I don't think such a cable exists.

    • Thanks. Forgot to add. My setup is just one monitor right now. So I don't necessarily need thunderbolt capabilities in the short term.

Mainly asking the question from a type-c perspective.

  • Just buy the cheapest one from eBay/ AMAZON

based on that, and my experience with USB2, i'd be keeping it short.
