AIA Vitality Rewards Program - Health Insurance

Looking for a basic cover to save taxes.

Is AIA Vitality rewards program any good?

I checked online and they mentioned with CommBank account, you can get $760 cash back if you maintain your health which they track through smartphone or smartwatches.

1000 points = $10 rewards

Not sure how much time it takes to get 1000 points.

They also give discounts on Anytime Fitness membership.

Plus you may be able to earn $400 cashback every year for gym.

Not sure if these cash back are easy or very difficult to get back.

Anyone has any advice on this?

    I signed up via Commbank

I go to the gym (or at least used to pre-lockdown) 4 times a week. It's 100 points per visit
If you use Strava - I cycle quite a bit, it's up to 100 points a day for cycling.
Max point accumulation is 100 points per day.

For Anytime Fitness - discount is great, the visits are based on whether you scan in. It's hit and miss, I would say 90% of the time it logs it correctly in Vitality.

Cashbacks $5/week are pretty easy to achieve - the weekly targets are dynamic depends on how active you are. I started off at 200/week target, but ended up at 500/week as a target since I'm pretty active. It doesn't go above 500/week for your target.

For anytime fitness, I believe you need to reach 44 visits per quarter to get the $100 cashback. Pretty easy to achieve if lockdown didn't exist.

Shopping vouchers/cashback - pretty easy to achieve if you regularly exercise.

    • Thanks for sharing your mini review - I've been looking at options myself having been with the majors in Aus and never hearing about AIA until last 12 months.

Any issues or inconveniences with them? I'm quite keen to have a provider that will accommodate everyday fitness vs those that just want me to pay up for the need to haves.

      • There's a AIA Vitality rewards opt-in monthly fee which was increased recently - just be wary of that.
Customer service wise they are great, they call up to check-in on your vitality progress now and then.

Found it to be the most beneficial health insurance since I just need the bare minimum for tax purposes.
App is OK, just make sure you have your devices/apps syncing.

CBA offered 2 or 3 months free (can't exactly remember) when you sign up with them - not sure if they have this offer available still… I signed up back in Feb. Might be worth asking.

  • I’m in my second year and found it fairly easy to hit the 35,000 points to max out all the cashbacks as I’m pretty active. Attaining points slows down once you reach the fitness cap earning but there enough other methods to keep going quite easily. Definitely worth striving for!

  • Wow… Thanks cloudbox and Michaelvikatos.
35000 points means $350 cash back right?

Lady on phone said it can go uptown $760.

But from above reviews I think I can consider it.

    • 350k = $200.

It's all tiered, you will get rewards at 10k, 15k, 20k etc…. all the way up to 350k.

      • Alright… I checked online and it was mentioned 1000k = $10.

        So, assumed 350K = $350.

But then with commbank and AIA, how can I claim $760 every year

  • AIA does not appear to offer a No Hospital/Extras Only Product like most of the established Health Insurers.

  • Check GMHBA (not for profit) as well, they also offer the AIA vitality program with some covers (GMHBA owns AIA??)

    • No, they are 2 seperate entities
