Keyboard Recommendations for Office and CAD

My brother spends multiple hours every day in productivity software and CAD.
He currently uses the pre-packaged wired keyboard and mouse that came with his dell desktop. And while he says he doesn't have any issue with what came with his PC, it pains me to watch him use them.

Looking online, I can't pick the wheat from the chaff. If anyone can offer insight into what's worth getting, I'd very much appreciate it.
There's a few criteria.

Essential:

  • Fullsize
  • Good Build Quality
  • USB Reciever

Nice to have:

  • Backlight
  • Mousebundle

Currently I'm leaning towards getting him the Dell KM5221W, because it seems like it would be the easiest transition for him.

Thanks for any help :)

MX Keys and MX Master 3. PC Byte is selling them as a bundle for $299. Yes it costs six times the Dell, however is tax deductible and very customisable.

    • I'm in a similar situation to OP but for my wife. She hates mechanical keyboards (even the "silent" ones drive her crazy). Is there a midpoint between the Dell and the MX? SHe's not a coder or anything but spends all day in excel

If she spends all day in Excel, the horizontal scroll wheel on the MX Master 3 will benefit greatly. Not sure of a midpoint, but you could probably get a cheaper keyboard and get the MX Master 3 (or other mouses with horizontal scroll wheels)

  • MX Vertical is amazing if you use your mouse a lot

i was given that Dell keyboard via work… its not bad, not great. It's basically the same as typing on my laptop keyboard

This may not be what you are asking for but I highly recommend getting a SpaceMouse. It makes navigating around a scene or model so much easier.

I find modelling fine with any keyboard to be honest.
