Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard/Mouse Combo - Losing Connection

Hello,

I wonder if anyone else has experienced random disconnections of the Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard/Mouse?

Basically both Mouse and Keyboard loses connection. If I then take out and re-plugging the USB receiver works, but it will lose connection again after sometime, varying between a few minutes to a few hours, without any consistency.

I have been dealing with this issue for quite some time now, tried uninstalling drivers, and rest of the leads I could follow online. But nothing has worked so far.

This is the model I have

These are the drivers I have tried, from Microsoft.

  • Have you tried a short USB extender cable from the PC to the receiver? Sometimes that’s a good way to reduce interference.

I used to intermittently have a similar issue on a Dell laptop in a docking station but I can’t recall it happening in a long time. Have you done all BIOS / driver updates?

  • I've got a different Microsoft non-Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo (2.4GHz receiver), I do find if my mobile is in the vicinity of the reciver then it will cause it to play up. It definitely has gotten less reliable as it age (mine's bought in 2009…) and like yours, unplugging/plugging it back seems to fix it for an hour or two before it plays up again. Gave up and went back to a corded keyboard/mouse.

  • Have you checked batteries?
Does it happen when a microwave is in use nearby?

  • Batteries are brand new, and connection is lost for both the Keyboard and the Mouse. So it's definitely just the connection issue.
Phone is never in the vicinity and there is no microwave nearby either.

  • Suggest reaching out to retailer for warranty. The last time I had one letter ‘S’ not working after 1 year 9 months (lucky me it happened before two-year mark), the eBay seller provided full refund

  • Right, so if anyone else have a similar issue, try inserting another USB in one of the other port. That has resolved my issue. Not sure why and how..
