    Isn't single phase limited to pushing 5KW into the grid?
    If so, nearly half of this 10kw of this deal seems redundant?

    (Unless you're using that much power in your house - in which case… You'd probably be on 3 phase anyway).

      single phase can go to 10KW, before u need to go 3 phase.

      however, i'd prefer micro-inverters instead of a central inverter, imo.

      Yes, it is. Getting 10kW allows you to export the full 5kW to the grid as well as have extra solar for usage.

      It also means that in winter when they're generating less, you might still be able to generate 5kW whereas if you only installed 5kW, you might only be generating 2.5kW…

      Energex will allow 5kw per phase to be fed back into their grid which means 5kw single phase and 15kw for 3 phase.

      However Energex also allow an additional 5kw per phase at zero export.

      This means (for example on single phase) you can be feeding 5kw back to the grid during the day while also running things in your home such as your Hot water system or pool from the additional 5kw capacity at zero export.

      This setup is ideal for single phase homeowners who have bills above $500 per quarter and have a pool or electric hot water system or massive ducted air con that can be offset by the additional 5kw capacity.

      I've got 8.5kW inverter on single phase power in Brisbane. No issues from Energex certifying it. I'm just limited to only exporting 5kW to the grid. Excess is for usage.

      The latter, don't believe Solar technology can go much further in terms of efficiency currently. Eg panels back years ago were 190-250w or so

      The efficiency of certain types of research solar cells increase every year. Traditional crystalline cells haven't progressed much because they are near their theoretical efficiency limits. Commercial cells don't change much.
