Buying an Apartment - How to Search for Properties 50m2 and above

Hi all. just got off the phone with my broker, I want to buy an apartment in the city, but she has said the bank won't finance anything under 50m2 total internal space. Is there a way I can filter search results for apartments to be above that? Surely it's something a lot of people need?

Real estate sites customers are agents looking to sell not people looking buy. If they offered such an option no one would look at the terrible cramped student investor apartments developers keep looking to flog.

Same thing for 'price range". Ever wonder why properties outside your range keep showing up in your searches? Its because there's actually 2 price ranges, the real one, and the one agent sets on the listing to advertise to.

I can't even exclude apartments from my realestate search. It's friggen ridiculous.

Realestate is a Murdoch asset. Search it last for properties

2br and upwards should be over 50sqm - start with that, if it fits your budget.

You'll be able to tell just by looking at the price. The ones that are less than 50sqm are significantly cheaper because of this lending condition.

There is a common misconception that banks won't finance under 50sqm. There are a few lenders who will, depending on how big/small your deposit is etc.

50m2 total internal space. Is there a way I can filter search results for apartments to be above that?

    Perhaps using the search filters?

Domain can filter on size. Then take it up with the agents who don't fill in the apartment size when listing.

Size is rarely listed because the REA are too lazy and they think if you can them for info they have a higher chance of selling the place.

I would suggest you look by suburb first rather than size.

I think "apartment in the city" narrow it down to CBD.

I was in a similar situation a few years back and the most effective method is the number of bedrooms. I think the platform ( realestate.com.au / domain.com.au ) need to enforce building size and body corp fees if it's an apartment. I put forward this suggestion among ith other feedback but it seems to fall into a black hole.

Maybe it’s an Aussie thing to list land size but not building size. US home shows are always talking about building size and less about land size. Must be a hangoiver from our obsession with backyard size from yesteryear.
