    I'm such a geek XD

  • +12

HARDCORE geeks don't need no tech support or service or warranty

    • We are going to update the product description and will offer warranty in line with ACL.
      - 30 DAYS DOA
      - 12 Month Warranty for any hardware faults.

As the stock is limited; should we not be able to replace, we will offer money back.

    • Please be understanding.

The phone being an overseas model and software probably just translated the words wrong

Meaning to say HARDCORE Geese not Geeks

  • +9

Pay $1699 and no technical or warranty support do you think oz lads are going to gamble their money??just a quick though. Good luck whoever is buying it TA.

    • +1

I agree got burnt with a ZUK branded lemon orphan(a Lenovo company)

      Never again!!

      • +9

Your updated warranty information is NOT in line with ACL. Smartphones sold in Australia, especially expensive ones, come with at least 2 year warranty under ACL, and possibly more at common law.

      • we are going to update…..you already sound dodgy as bro …….why would anyone want to buy anything from you guys???

  • +2

No doubt it's probably a good phone, but seems like a lot to spend on a Xiaomi phone.

    • Yeah, this is probably the most I've ever seen for a Xiaomi phone, lol. The specs look good though.

      • Isn't the the mi11 ultra $1800? Mi mix fold is surely well over 2k

    • Bit too much for "probably" I think

    • I had a Mi Mix 1, they make high quality kit.

  • +9

I'm using the Oneplus 8 pro now and to be honest, it's getting harder and harder for me to justify upgrading to another flagship phone because the upgrade might sounds huge on paper, it doesn't sound much of a big difference in real life scenario.

    • +1

Yeah I'm using OP9 (cost me A$700, US model) and I honestly couldn't tell you a phone I'd rather have. OP9 Pro would be good but I refuse to spend $1000+ on a phone.

The only real need to upgrade now I feel is for battery improvements and software upgrades (in which there's 3 years OS and 4 years security updates hence won't need to upgrade for 3+ years if everything else holds up).

      • 100% agree. I bought mine used for $650. Best phone at that price haha.
I was thinking of buying the OP9 Pro for the 65W charging but the 35W of the OP8P already too good to be true for me.

    • +2

Got my OnePlus 9r a few weeks ago for $700 ish and it genuinely surprised me. Good screen, good OS, rly good performance and superb charging speed! I was thinking about getting a Samsung or Xiaomi after spending the last few years with iOS but but it's twice the price tag and frankly their UI just turn me off.

      • can i ask where you got it from?

  • +3

i'm not quite sure if this phone is for me

    Sent from my modded Ti-83+

    • Hardcore geeks had the TI-92 Plus.

  • +1

Chinese model, with no technical or warranty support.

Expensive gamble with lack of warranty and support. You would need to be HARDCORE to buy this

  • +11

It’s a breach of ACL for panmi.com.au to advertise to sell without warranty in Australia.

    • -2

It includes warranty.. where are you reading that it doesn't

      • +1

        In the OP

Chinese model, with no technical or warranty support.

        • -2

If it's from panimi you get warranty.

"All Xiaomi products purchased from Panmi and its Authorised Resellers (‘Authorised Reseller’) are covered under 24-month warranty"

          • +4

@PR0r: In the description of this deal, under Disclaimer , they explicitly said it comes with no warranty. Most likely due to being grey import.

Whether legal or not I will let others advise.

          • +5

            @PR0r: Taken from their website…

            There is limited stock.
            Its Chinese version.
            No technical support,
No warranty Comes with AU adapter.

    • -5

This phone was bought into the country as for the geek in Australia to get access. We note your point about ACL for all products should under the Panmi umbrella.

  • Lol. This only for geeks..

Not for the faint hearted. Its literally a "no-brainer!"

  • Not sure what the hype is on this phone. The mi11 ultra is still better spec wise. The only thing "good" about this is the under display camera. Even then most reviews on those types of cameras show poor picture quality and hazing (fold 3, axon 20/30).

Hardcore geeks would've jumped on the fold 3 bandwagon really.

  • -6

And no xiaomi or any other Chinese branded phones can be worth that much.

  • Panmi will revolutionise consumers’ expectations – in addition ensuring compliance with Australian Standards for all products introduced to the Australian market

        Nice try
I hear Facebook has a marketplace too..

  • Sheeeshhhh

  • +6

$1600+ to some random seller with a spotty history on Ozb? nah.

  • +10

    Australian consumer law

    https://business.gov.au/products-and-services/fair-trading/a…

    • You cannot have a store policy and/or signs in store which seek to override consumer guarantee rights (for example ‘no refunds’ or ‘no refunds on sale items’). This is unlawful.

Under the ACL, consumer guarantees automatically apply to: goods or services which cost under $100,000. See https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

Not sure if there's a mistranslation in your disclaimer or but you should probably change it to something along the lines of:

    • This device is intended to be sold only in the Chinese market and will not be supported by Xiaomi Inc. The clauses of the Panmi Pty Ltd Terms and Conditions are not intended to exclude or limit any rights under the Australian Consumer Law (“ACL”).

      • +14

Yeah, requiring the users of OzB to bring your legal obligations to your attention is a GIANT red flag. I think maybe you should delete this deal and rethink your business plan.

  • Holy shit, 120W wired and 50W wireless charging! That shit charges wirelessly faster than my Lenovo at 45W!

    • 50W wireless charging also on OP9 Pro.
Tbh, 120W wired charging is insane. A full charge takes 29 minutes on 65W, meaning it would take around ~17 mins to charge 0-100.

That's surely got to impact on the batteries longevity.

1.7k phone with no NFC, I'm howling AWOOOOOOO

    • In the link, it says it has NFC - not that it really matters though as per other comments

  • Chinese Version that's means NO Google

  • +6

An Australian store with no consumer guarantees why on earth would you risk it… With this dodgy mob

    • +1

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to even try to exclude ACL requirements.

  • Don’t forget it’s pre-order as well

  • LOL

  • This phone is for HARDCORE geeks and not your typical consumer.

True, as people buying this with zero warranty are truly screwed.

  • When 8gb ram is just not enough for a phone

    • S21 Ultra has 16gb ram in the 512gb variant. No idea how you will need that much

  • Who gonna spend $1700 to xiaomi phone? Also this is Chinese version not international one. Better spend big money for iphone or galaxy..

  • +3

The RRP in China for 512gb model is ~AU$1211, so pretty big markup by PANMI. In other words, you are being ripped off. I find it comical that the deal is "free shipping" when you are paying almost $500 more.

This is not a deal, but rather spam

    • +4

Official price is 6299CNY or 6500 on e-commerce sites due to lack of stock, which is around 1400AUD, also
there's 10% GST and shipping on top of that coming to AUS, I personally think the price is fair if u REALLY want one for the spec. Although I do hear there's crazy amount of ads in MIUI 😕

      • I've been using miui for a couple of years now. There's a small ad in xiaomi apps, like mail and browser apps. The ads don't appear in 3rd party apps. I don't mind them so much. I always see so much hate for miui but i don't understand it. This is the best phone I've ever had as far as user experience (F1)

  • I'm happy with my <400 dollarydoo poco phone.
Geek enough to flash a custom rom and root but not to spend 1700 diggerydoos

  • +5

Lol good luck with your support. Going from "no warranty" to "oh we didn't realise we had to give warranty… Ummm… There's 12 month local warranty also!". Yeah, no thanks. Wait for a legit local seller.

  • +2

Bought a vacuum cleaner from PANMI last week and they are yet to hand it over to Auspost after "dispatching" it on monday. just glad I used paypal !

  • This is terrible price, extremely expensive.

  • +4

As mentioned by many other commenters, the fact that OzBargain community needed to tell the seller about ACL and providing warranty is a red flag.

  • +1

Absolutely not worth, especially that 1080 screen.

  • +2

Questionable warranty and price tag of $1600 for a grey import phone…No way José!

  • Would spend extra to get fold 3 instead.

  • Mr Jack has come.

  • Cheaper elsewere @ Giztop, 12GB/512GB Black version for only AUD$1544.15 delivered incl GST.
They also got 8GB/128GB or 256GB at lower price.
Don't get why group buying actually more expensive than online retailer where they got more profit margin with it.

  • Xiaomi for that price…

  • I have bought the Viomi A9 from this seller. They delivered on time and used Australia Post. The product works fine.

Ths product however is quite expensive. I wouldn't spend this much on a Xiaomi grey import even if it had warranty.

  • Am I buying an iPhone or Xiaomi?

No chance I'd spend anywhere near 1k on a Xiaomi phone yet alone 1700. It can have 2Tb of storage still too much.

    Neg for price

  • Wow, xiaomi cup full-screen technology 20mp selfie camera under the panel. No notch at all?

  • sounds like a bloody expensive phone with a crappy warranty….who would buy this phone seriously?????

  • Why would one pay 1.7k for a Xiao Mi? Let along he/ she a geek or not.

  • Love my mix 3, which was 560, this is way too dear atm
