Council Fees for Upgraded Bin Service - What Are Chances of Having Fees Refunded?

I've received a letter from my local council stating that my fees for having an upgraded bin service are going up, however I have never had an upgraded bin service since I moved into the house 2 years ago.

It looks like the price difference is $125/year. What do people my think my chances are of having fees refunded?

I've spoken to the council and couldn't get a refund on the spot, but they are going to 'look into it' and get back to me.

Is there a number less than NIL ?? that would be your chance.

The previous owner would have had the upgraded bin….. They don't reset these things on sale etc. You have to downgrade or upgrade them.

Is your bin 'larger' than everyone else's?

    • My bin is the same size as everyone else, its the standard rubbish bin (smaller than the green waste and recycling bins). So it looks like I'm being charged for a larger one but don't actually have it.

  • someone has posted about this before, council said no, llast I heard

What is included in your upgraded bin service?

    Bigger bin?

    More frequent bin waste collection?

    Bin cleaning?

    • I'm being charged for a larger bin, but have always just had the normal size.

Then you get the fee refunded or credited to your next instalment, if you've already paid.

Unlikely to get a refund, possible to get the charges adjusted to what they should be for a normal bin going forward.

Sounds like the prev owner decided they wanted to take their big bin with them and left you with the normal sized one.
