PayPal Payment Was Not Successful with Coles Online

Hi, tried three times recently to shop with Coles online but each time it comes to pick up day I get the below.

There has been an issue with your payment and as a result your recent order has been cancelled.
This could be for a number of reasons, such as a change to your credit card number, insufficient funds or your credit card expiring.
If you wish to resubmit this order, please log in to your account and update your payment details before checking out again.

Has anyone else had this problem? I use PayPal, and it's the same credit card I use for all online. I shop with Kmart which is a part of the Coles group and never had this happen. Just don't know what to do to make a successful order. My card has a high limit and pretty much nothing owing on it, I'm at a loss.

  • When they first started with C&C, I know paypal would never work for me and I'd have to pay on the day. They never cancelled the order though.

    I ended up using my CC online, instead of using Paypal. TBH I haven't tried using Paypal again with coles.

  • I use Paypal with Coles all the time, haven't had any problem. Why not try using your CC directly though? Being Coles you probably don't need the protection Paypal gives as much.

    • Tried credit card directly this time. See if this one also fails.

    • Yes, they couldn't give me any reason. Didn't seem interested at all.

  • Very strange. Since they do not take GC I have used Paypal and CC many times with no issues. You could try the new Flypay where somewhat like Paypal you can add your CC details. However, I am having trouble using it to pay with my flybuy points. Has anyone done that successfully? You could also try the Coles Mastercard or call them. I would not give up on using them as they do have good deals and specials.

    • Just tried CC directly, if this fails I will give up.

  • May be coles not liking to lose money on the Paypal merchant fees ? like how it didnt like eBay's new managed system.

    Yes, I've used it to pay with points. Which meant I could finally use points for online purchase at Coles. It is a bit of a fail not being able to use them at the normal checkout.

    • Can you just use it lots of $50 or for total amount but minimum of $50?

    Check your paypal account, the transaction should still show up there with a reason why it failed. I had an order recently that was flagged for review which basically meant it was cancelled.

    I use paypal a lot and it was a local (next suburb over) store, so I'm guessing it's just random. I've switched back to paying by credit card for most stuff now because the random paypal issues are just plain annoying.

    Here's Paypal's number 1800073263. Give them a call. I've called them in the past about random issues. They are usually great at answering any enquiries. I have the number stored in my phone

    • I just rang payPal 4 times and each time there was dead silence on the phone, nothing zip, nada; after the 2nd call I rang my radiologist & the phone was working OK. It was just dead silence when I rang payPal, there was not even a call counter, then after 3 minutes, it rang once & the call ended

        1800 073 263 (within Australia, landline only) or +61 2 8223 9500 Support Hours are available on our Contact Us page

          I did that 1800 number again just before, and I got disconnected after 5 seconds, real weird. Anywho, I went to that 'contact us' page, and there was that 02 8223 9500 number, plus another 6 digit number.

          I rang that 02 number & it rang str8 away. I told the lady that the 1800 number didn't work, but she wasn't too worried.

          I rang up because I had 3 payments that were 'pending', and have been for days. Two were to do with 'pay in 4' & the other is from Canada. It seems that both 'pay in 4' have been 'pending' due to it not going back to the seller for confirmation, that is why it was 'pending'. I use fireFox, I might have to use Chrome as I don't have any apps that might be blocking things, then I should get the transaction completed/gone through by the retailer

          I blame the new 'pay in 4', just have to get used to things. I should know better, but I am getting old, and I forgot things so much now-a-days. I just wish my new kitten would come down from the chimney cavity. I feel like doing something out of an old Police Academy movie, "I'll get that kitten out of the tree for you"
