Gigabit USB to Ethernet Adapter for Eko TV

Hey peeps thought I'd ask here first before wasting time buying adapters that probably wont work. I'm trying to watch some 4k content through plex, but the 100mbps rj45 port on the TV just isn't cutting it and WiFi isn't really an option where the TV is at. So I'm looking at getting a gigabit usb to ethernet adapter because apparently that tops out 480mbps through usb 2.0 ports on the TV and that should be more then enough. I've tried an adapter that I have that works on my mi box connected to a different TV with a RTL8153 chipset, but it doesn't work on the Eko TV. Does anyone know of one that will work?

This is the TV that I have - https://www.bigw.com.au/product/eko-50-4k-ultra-hd-android-t…

It should be the same for the 50"-70" models.

Cheers.

  • Best bet - shield TV pro, will handle it effortlessly.

    Though I doubt you'd buy a $300 media player to use with a $500 TV 😛

    • Don't need something that powerful. If I was gonna go down that route a google tv / vodafone tv / mi box would suffice. I know the TV can play the content I need without any issues because the files play flawlessly from a USB. It's just the rj45 port on it is a let down for local plex play.

Depends on the bitrate. I've found the only thing which handles 4k remux files so far is the Shield. Google TV and Xbox X both fail

        • Nah I don't watch remuxes. Most of my 4k files are around 30ish mb/s in bitrate. I'm pretty sure 4k remuxes are nearly double that lol.

          • @Emre: Yeah my highest one is 97.5 Mbps 😉

  • If it's a full android OS it could work, if it isn't it's not going to work without drivers
