Gillette Fusion Proglide Razor Blades, Beating Terrible Retail Pricing?

Anyone ever found a cheap solution to getting these blades?

I have really very super sensitive skin, I find that blades with a vibrating handle, seriously reduce the pain when shaving, always have. Especially on my neck.

Sadly, my last Gilette Mach 3 power handle died (I'm crushed they worked very well and the blades are much cheaper than the current 5 blade models)
Sadly, I need to upgrade to the 5 blade vibrating handle, Proglide fusion thing.

I've done my first ever import of blades out of China through AliExpress and I was quite picky (4.7 rating, 5000 feedback, "German made" blades) nope they were vastly inferior to a stock blade, new blade, vibrating handle, felt like a 3 or 4 week old blade I'd normally use for the Mach 3.

Any idea how to obtain cheap blades? Anyone ever got one out of China (or heck, some country?) which was actually decent?

The pricing for the official Aussie Product is out of control but sadly the Chinese product, not up to snuff.

To be fair, you don't go for Gillette products if you're after cheap but sometimes you do get them cheaper on eBay. Avoid the ones that say "not in retail packaging to reduce shipping" as those are fake ones.

You can get original Made in Germany ones with Thai or Malaysian packaging for much cheaper than local retail.

Not sure why you thought something off AliExpress would be anything but fake…

Another alternative, heard good things about DORCO blades. Apparently they're the OEM maker for many brands like Gillette and thus same quality for much cheaper but haven't tried them yet myself.

There are lots of online fakes out there. They don't even last long and not the same shave. I usually get them from Costco on coupon deals.

      • Exactly, this is what I'm looking for, cheapest possible prices for the real deal OR a copy which is as good as the real thing.

I couldn't care less about Gillettes bottom dollar but I see no point paying 1/4 the price for a fake which is terrible.

I'd gladly pay 1/2 the price, maybe 2/3 the price for a fake which is identical. But it does need to perform.

DORCO make the blades for Dollar Shave Club. I've tried the DORCO Pace 6 before and the blades weren't quite as good as Gillette but still decent. They won't fit on a Gillette handle.

I'd gladly switch to Aldi blades or Dorco, or Hammo, or Berto, or MacGuffin but at the end of the day I MUST have a water resistant / water proof, vibrating handle (Which Gillette do) - it makes a massive difference with sensitive skin.

Look I agree but I have REALLY sensitive skin, I'm in my 40's I've tried other products.
Vibrating razor handles help significantly with this.

AliExpress has a wide variety of products, including stuff listed as Made in Germany.

Oh I don't disagree. The vibrating function really does help reduce rashes. Not sure why or how, but it definitely does.

If you're using the regular Proglide handle, recommend you get the Gilette Styler one when it's frequently on offer. The vibration function on that is much much better even if you don't need the trimmer bit.

AliExpress has a wide variety of fake products.

        • I def don't need a trimmer - but I would like the vibration better, the M3 was a better vibrator than the fusion >:(

Now the sellers know this and the last of the old stock M3's are over $100 US on ebay……….. (!!!)

Also, I'm a shave in the shower kinda guy, so that trimmer model might not be so good. (I have to shave a head too)

  • I buy in bulk when Woolworths have their 40-50% off sales on Gillette with the 8/10 pack of cartridges.

Also FWIW if you suffer from sensitive skin, I’d recommend switching to Gillette Skinguard. Literally the best I’ve ever used as I need to shave daily for work and I’ve never had a problem.

    • I use sensitive shave gel, vibrating Mach 3 (proglide now) and only shave once every 3 days or so, as long as the blades aren't crap it works well.

I will also say, I'm PRETTY sure vibrating handles, Gillette hates they ever invented them, cause if you're tight, they make blades last way, way longer.

  • I know this is a meme online but I fell for it and loved it.
    Get a saftey razor https://www.shavershop.com.au/wahl-traditional-barbers/safet…
    and you'll never look back.

    • I have super sensitive skin too.

I've been using a double edge safety razor for about 10 years and for me, I have no issues at all.

OP if you haven't tried one, I'd suggest giving it a go

  • I used Gillette for years, then I tried a 5 blade from Aldi a couple of years ago and have never bought another Gillette razor.

    • I love Aldi, would change in a heartbeat.
      They don't do vibrating handles.

  • Bit late but I can highly recommend this shaving cream for those with sensitive skin. 15% off at the moment. Highly recommended. https://www.thebodyshop.com/en-au/face/mens-grooming/maca-ro…
