This is a lovely drop for those that haven't tried it before. It used to be $90 a bottle but the price of this has been creeping up overtime.
All aged statements have been going up

Other notables:

Oban 14yr ($95.40 ) https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/spirits/oban-14yo-singl…
Glendronach 12yr ($85.50) https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/spirits/glendronach-12y…

Both of these are natural colour and non-chill filtered. The Oban has a little bit of smoke and peat and i have found some slight variation between bottles. The Glendronach is a staple of mine - a lovely sweetness in this big sherry bombs which i think is better than Macallan in this their price range

Now if you want a combination of both i recently bought this - and my god it is fantastic:

It is sold out here - but you can google it and a couple of shops still have it, but the price is increasing - seriously you won't be sorry that you got this

For those that love a Lagavulin - the whiskey club is adding in a Offerman this month which will be quite frankly - stupendous
I shouldn't be mentioning it as i want extra bottle and it will sell out:

The 10% off promo is listed on ShopBack’s promos

    • Thanks - updated

  • Decent price for the Glendronach, not the best but pretty good for a fantastic whiskey.

    • Agree - there have been some great deals on it in the past for under $70

You might find the Glendronchach isn't "non" chill filtered anymore. Ralfy did some reviews on you tube about it and had some correspondance with the distillery about the change in follow up videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ughUDqRwOc

Here is an article if you don't want to watch the video.

Having said that I still bought a bottle of this the other week (but haven't opened yet) as I still think it is better than Balvenie 12 or Arberlour. I am assuming the chill filtering is there to maintain the flavour profile (as per the correspondance from the distillery) and if the chill filtering doesn't alter the taste I don't think I will be a snob about it. A good drop is a good drop.

        • The bottles in Australia are still non-chill filtered - you can see this on their labels.

I have watched the clip before from Ralfy (it was great and his follow-up commentary on Glendronachs letter to him)

Yes the distillery is looking to go that way, but we are lucky to still have this stock here.

Personally i have bought a case of the Glendroanch 12 and put it away (for the very reason listed above).

The chill- filtering is to stop any cloudiness in the whiskey (but enthusiasts would say it takes out some of the oil and flavor profile that makes it what it is). As Glendronach grows in profile that are moving more whiskey around the world and they need to accomdate to the different climate and temperatures, thus the move to go to chill filtering.

I love the lagavulin 16yr and that is chill filtered and has colouring as as well.

You are right though a good drop is a good drop regradless of some of these things

          • @tnarg: Maybe I should have kept the tube - I can't find the non-chill filtered statement on bottle.

            • @Belch: Correct it is on the bottom 3rd of the labelling on the tube

  • I placed my first order with first choice Tuesday last week. Only got a message yesterday saying its been dispatched, probably be delivered end of this week.

I have been so spoilt with Boozebud's free same or next day shipping. First choice are so bad in comparison.

I really enjoyed the Nectar D'or. Definitely worth a go if you're a fan of sweeter cask finishes.
