Best Rice Cooker under $150

This is for anyone who doesn't want to use the microwave or stove top.

What is the middle ground between a cheapo kmart / big W & high end tiger / zojirushi

Looking for the best quality rice for the price think bang for the $

Let me know If I am missing any good models.

    Kmart $13 :)

    • does it keep rice warm?

      • yes, it is a basic function of any rice cooker (but which I never use)

    • Doesn't look like i can adjust the actual poll options

  • OP, what's the criteria for best bang for buck?

What feature will you be looking at?

    Power consumption? Cooking time?

I suggest pressure cooker for rice.

But which bargainer spends $150 for a rice cooker.

When it breaks, If you open it up and change the thermal fuse for $3, it will last for a decade.

The best rice cookers are the Japanese ones like tiger and zojirushi, if you can find one in your budget, then get it.

Otherwise i would get the Panasonic in your list.

  • Big W. Brilliant Basics Rice Cooker. 1L White - CFXB22G $13

  • Depends on what rice you are cooking?
Basmati - Elcheapo rice cooker is fine
Sushi rice - you probably need be more careful. Haven't tried Kmart rice cooker but it would be good enough

    • Mainly basmati & sushi.
Looking for an upgrade over current cheapo

      • yeah you probably want to look at reviews for models on how well it cooks sushi rice.

I've never had any issues with Basmati rice. Just a matter of putting right amount of water

  • Breville - BRC460 - The Rice Box™ Cooker

My first rice cooker so I can't compare, but I really the rice cooked there. I've been using it twice a week and have no complaints.

    I paid $89 in 2016.

I would splash out a tiny bit more money for the Panasonic SR-CN108WST. Currently $169 at Bing Lee, possibly cheaper elsewhere.

Man, this topic gets asked weekly

  • Best rice cooker? Mum..

  • I actually pressure cook my rice in a Ninja Foodi Multi Cooker now. It's so fluffy and only takes two minutes (excluding the time it takes to reach the correct pressure) but still overall faster than a standard rice cooker. Quite a bit above your price range but has a bunch of other features such as air frying, steamer, slow cooker, roasting and broiling. Have used all the different modes and everything has turned out great.
