Was a huge fan of the fighting fantasy books back in the day.

    • Same, better than any other books or games at the time.
The memories of reading them all/most when I was young.

Sorcery was in fact a limited, multi book series (and weirdly enough a game you could play over rotary phone by paying by the minute!) following and seperate to Fighting Fantasy, written solely by Steve Jackson. FF was written by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone.

(Adjusts pocket protector and gently fondles two D6)

      • I recall an ad for a multiplayer telephone game where you could even fight the other human players - 3 beats a 2, 2 beats a 1, and of course 1 beats a 3.

        gently fondles two D6

Just don't get caught in public …

This is probably kind of lame for the kids of today, compared to what other games are available out there. Back in the day when all we had were books, the Choose Your Own Adventure books were the gateway to opening up a child's imagination. Who needs super duper graphics when the richest adventures were in your mind!

It's also part of Build Your Own All Stars Bundle 3.

These games are amazing. The art, sound design, writing and soundtrack are all excellent. The freedom of choice is the best thing though.
For example, when you fight a creature, you can usually cast one of 30 spells for an advantage- say make yourself 10 times taller, attempt to mind control the creature or create a bunch of clones of yourself etc. But, you need to be mindful; if you cast the wrong spell (say if you cast BIG while in a dungeon fighting a rat) you will inevitably slam your head into the rocks above and take damage.

Wow thank you so much OP. I am totally ready for a trip down memory lane, I didn't even know these existed on PC.

I remember these books when I was a kid, good old paper and dice gamebooks.

    • +1

Some of them even had pictures of dice on each page so you could emulate a dice roll by flicking to a random page.

  • I have this one on IOS, but only the first one, must be part of freebie somewhere back then.
