  • I wonder if single phase can be converted to 3-phase or not? if it can be, does anybody know the process and rough costs? I am planning to get 10kw solar system installed but I have been told system has to be 3-phase to do that

    • +1

You can do a 10kW on 1ph but output is limited to 5kW back to the Grid. That can be still be worthwhile doing but need to assess it. If you were to upgrade your connection to 3ph, again needs to be assessed but circa $3k in SE QLD would be expected.

      • thats 3k to convert from 1 phase to 3?

        • Yes, its costly. Many homes are 3 ph at the time of being built or retro-fitted. This is often to drive large A/C's.

      • who does this job? supplier or electricians?

        • Generally, I would advise you to get multiple quotes from other electricians too. So you can compare. Its not actually part of a solar installation, and can be performed by any qualified electrician (friends and family in the Trade can do mates rates). Meter box upgrades fall into that category too.

          • @Scott-M: is there anything on power distributor side? do we need to ask them for anything?

            • @wrx5: Things change. I would always recommend checking with your power retailer in any case about your intentions to be sure.

    • I converted single to 3 phase in 1998 in Sydney for $1050 to install proper aircon.
Surely can't have trebled since then?

      • That's only a guide, Karen - it can be less than $3k, but its reasonable to expect to pay a lot more than $1k now here in SE QLD. Any work like that needs to be assessed and quoted individually.

      • It was done on live supply so very little time with no power.
The longest time was arranging circuits between phases.

        • Nice and smooth by the sound of it…

    Most look fake

    • +1

      You're a fake.

I had my system installed through Scott and I'm really happy. Got a 6.6kw Growatt. Been installed since January 2020.

Still going strong and I have not paid a energy bill since it's been installed. Very happy.

I left Scott a review on Google too so it is indeed real

        You're a fake.

You are the one not using your real name Mr Pot!

  • +4

I can vouch for the company. Got some panels installed last week (not this deal, a bit larger). Installation configuration and timing was easily organised, installers were friendly and did a tidy job, panels worked immediately and performing to spec, and Scott was happy for a chat at various stages.

    • Thank you Michael.

If this doesn't drink of a manipulated/fake comment I don't know what does lol

      • Not sure why I'm even responding but…maybe learn to trust instead of adding yourself to the pile of people who feel their unfounded opinion means something to someone.

I'm guessing you think the invoice is fake too? Prices I've removed as I don't know how standard solar panel pricing is and I don't want this to form a basis for someone to bargain with them.

    • Scott has been great for me too. Was willing to chat and answer ally questions. Before and after install.

    Hi Scott,

I always get sceptical when i see these type of prices for solar panel packages. As you are probably aware there are plenty of players out there who probably don't do the right thing by their customers when issues occur down the line. Positive reviews on Google are good, but we know they can be manipulated.

I'm not suggesting your business falls into this category at all, but how does the consumer (i.e. me) get comfort/protection around purchasing a solar package through you (or any solar panel business for that matter)? Our household would immediately benefit from this type of package at this cost and with a relatively quick payback period, so it is a no-brainer economically.

You get what you pay for, a growatt inveter is meh, panels are decent but old school.
Should pay more and get a better inverter

      • While somewhat true (re what you pay for), can you please advise what inverters you are using/have experience with so the lurkers here can inform themselves?

        What defines a better inverter?

Trying to get a better understanding of these terms and standards so I know what I'm shopping for :)

        • we use fronius inverters and they have been great products, easily what I'd recommend to anyone

    • Its not hard to validate any of my reviews. They are real. Pick some and I will put you in touch with the customer. PM me for that.

      • Surely that's a privacy issue, giving out previous customers contact details. I hope they signed up for that.

I call them first and ask permission.

    Oof
Qld solar rebates must be fairly low

In WA i had the exact same system installed for $2199

    • +2

Rebates and incentives vary between states. In SE QLD this system is eligible for 91 STC's (Small Technology Certificates), we pay the maximum allowable of $40 for each.

I did the best I could to analyse the reviews of this business.

    1. The reviews are all perfect 5 star reviews and are to a much higher standard then the average google review. The average google review is not this perfect and high quality.

    2. Many reviews only have 1 review on their entire account (there are some with other reviews)

    3. The reviews are all using a similar format and seem to follow the key points of a "perfect review" and what a business would ask for if they were coached on what to say, basically following all the key areas of the business for example personal customer care and going to the effort of using real names, best price/value, great service/installation etc

I don't think these reviews are fake, but I do think that either this business seems a little too lucky. My best guess is that this business is only contacting customers after successful and happy installs and then asking them or providing financial incentive to provide a good quality review. This makes even more sense when you see how many people have only 1 review, who bothers to review a solar install but not a local restaurant? Its simply not common.

    • +1

Not true for the review I left.

I was very pleased with the before and after sales service which drove me to give Scott the review he deserved.

I also referred him to friends who have had a flawless install.

He did not give me any incentives for the review nor the referral.

My install was done in January 2020 and had 0 issues since.
