Recommendations for a New Work Laptop - Budget $1200

Hey folks, any recommendations for a new work laptop?

I mostly use it for word processing, editing, and Zoom meetings. It doesn't need to be super flash. Budget probably up to $1200. No need for a touch screen.

In the past I've tended towards HP, not sure why. Currently I have a HP notebook which is slow and the casing has cracked, so accessing the charging port is tricky…….time for an upgrade.

Are there any great deals at the moment? Cashback, bonus offers, etc.
I'm also on UNIDAYS if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • If you have StudentBeans access, you should be able to access student pricing on the Lenovo Education store

The ThinkPad L14 AMD Gen 2 is a pretty good deal:

    • AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 5650U
    • Windows 10 Home 64
    • 2x 8GB (Upgrade option)
    • 256GB SSD
    • 14.0" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 10-point Multi-touch (Upgrade option, optional)
    • 45whr battery

Selecting all those options bring the laptop to $1,264. If you drop the 10 point multi-touch display to a non-touch 250 nits display, the price is $1,114

There's also a fingerprint reader option for an extra $20.

I've always had Windows…never owned an Apple thingy. Makes me nervous getting around a whole new operating system!

      • Using Microsoft offices on Mac OS is also not a good experience. You’ll lose your productivity and patience.
