Motherboard, PC Case and Fans (if Needed) for Ryzen 7 1700x Compatible Parts

Hi all,

So I have a dell inspiron 5675 that has a faulty motherboard (out of warranty for 2 years now). It came with a ryzen 7 1700x so not looking to upgrade the CPU anytime soon and only to replace the motherboard (case too since DELL uses their proprietary mo0therboard and cases. I am new to pc building and was wondering if anybody can give some tips in terms of what features make a good motherboard/pc case/fans? Would be great for any recommendations too.

    X370 / B450 boards are fine.

Artic is a good brand for budget fans.

Phantek also has good budget cases.

Can recommend more depending on your budget and other parts you need.

    • My budget is fairly flexible. The fans are dependent on the case and budget preferrable $200 to 250 but willing to go up to max $300 if need additional fans. I am planning to use the cooler that came with the dell desktop which has been doing fairly well atm.

EDIT: Not sure if it is because it is an old motherboard but the x370 is like $200+

  • You might get cover for the motherboard under the ACL? depends how long you've had it and cost? It's a bit unclear: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-26/how-long-should-a-fri…

    • It was a dumb move on my part to get a refurb model so I am not sure if that will void any ACL benefits. I dell has offered a motherboard replacement after the warranty period ended but that a few months after warranty expiry. It cost about 1.3k and got it around mid 2017

      • ok cool not sure if you can be covered…. I had that cpu, the mobos have different features + vrm "strength" and max ram speed. think the x series mobos have more pci lanes if you want the max graphical bandwidth. You may also need a power supply as the dell one might be proprietary.

        • Ohh ok. Thanks for letting me know!

  • You also may need to get a power supply as some Dell's use proprietary power supplies as well (different pinout configuration).

What video card do you have (how much power does it need?)
