Segway Ninebot Max G30

Hey everyone
Looking at getting a Segway Ninebot Max G30.
JB currently have it on sale for $1199 but I see that they also had it on sale in March for $800ish -

Should I be waiting for something like this again or can I try bargin with JB for a better price?

Any help would be great

Thanks

  • Was that clearing out the gen 1 motor model though and this price is for gen 2?

    • I got mine from JB earlier in the year for $799. It has been over $1k since then, so glad that I bought it. I thought the gen2 motor was only in the G30L (light version)?

      • Yer the G30L which apparently isn’t as good

So $1199 is the best you think?

      • No the generation of motor is unrelated to whether it’s the G30 or G30L (and the only difference between those is the battery capacity). There’s nothing wrong with a gen 1 motor, I guess it depends how you use the scooter.

        • So what’s the better one to get? New to all this sorry

          • @Twisty: Gen 1 motor slows down top speed at 80% battery left whereas gen 2 can go top speed all the way to 0%. However gen 1 has higher torque. Depends on your use case, if it’s flat all the way get gen 2. If there are hills after your first 20% of battery is used, get gen 1. Of course that’s if you can still buy gen 1, as I was saying I think they cleared out the gen 1 at JB.

            How to tell:

Identifying which gen motor you have is fairly straightforward. Motors beginning with a serial number of ‘5’ or ‘6’ are the older generation or “Gen 1”. The new generation, “Gen 2” begins with a ‘9’.

            • @justdigi: Thanks heaps

            • @justdigi: Is the serial number in the box so I can tell before I buy?

              • @Twisty: I don’t think so. I think it’s only printed on the motor, as it’s a different number to the serial number of the scooter itself.

                • @justdigi: Crap. I’m guessing I won’t know till I buy it

  • They aren't going to discount that much just because they've done it in the past. But I can see it advertised other places for less ($1099 at ScootCity with free shipping - that appears to be their everyday price).

  • If you rent scooters on the streets (e.g. in Brisbane), the new purple company (Beam) sells the Max G30 at the moment for $999 but out of stock. They also give you $100 credit to ride their scooters.

  • Does anyone know how to tell if a Segway Ninebot Max G30 is a Gen2 without opening the box and looking at the serial number?

  • So I’m thinking after reading and reading

The Segway Ninebot Max G30 is Gen1 Motor and the G30P is the Gen2 motor

  • Try AZAU, https://www.azau.com.au/p/segway-ninebot-kickscooter-max-gen…

currently $899 for the grey, lower range but lighter model.

  • I wish I had bought it when it went on sale in March, I have been thinking about it ever since.
