Need software to make invoices and form letters

Hi there,

I know I keep picking all you brains out there… but you all come up with such great suggestions. It's the best forum I know!

So this weeks drama…

I am a physio, and starting up a private practice. I need some sort of sotware such that I can enter the patients data and the doctors data and then press a button to spit out
1) an invoice
2) a recipt (same thing I guess)
3) a letter to the doctor which would automatically enter the patients info and the doctors info for me

The letter seems to be the catch. I have an old version of quick books and that does the invoices, but doesn;t seem to be capable of the letters.

I imagine that MS access should be able to spit somethign out to MS word, but I am not that smart, and it seems that I would be reinventing the wheel.

If anyone knows of any programs that would be suitable, that would be great. Of course, since I am on ozbargain, I like free programs, so the cheaper the better, but any ideas even if they are not free would be appreciated. Can't be a tight ass forever I guess!

Thanks, Lesley.

  • Sorry I have never used any "free" ones. The software I developed at work has an invoice module that does workflow that can automate the letter generation although it's a bit pricy :)

Zoho Invoice pops up in the ads here and they have a nice video cast. Not sure whether they apply to your situation. One issue with those US based product is taxation…

    All the best.

  • Might be time to upgrade Quickbooks. They have a version that integrates with MS Office and hence should take care of your needs. Been a while since we dealt with them though so it might be best to ring them. If you are using Quickbooks anyway it could be a way to get a software upgrade as well as take care of your form letter issue.

Take a look at the comparison table here http://www.quicken.com.au/prdcompare/product_compare_2008.as… and do an in page search for 'office integration'. Once again though, ring them first to see if it can meet your specific form letter needs.

  • how about something like - http://bambooinvoice.org/ ??. Get someone on rentacoder.com for $100 to cutsomise the software and install it for your needs or I can do it for $200 :) .

    EDIT : Another one - http://www.webresourcesdepot.com/open-source-invoicing-app-s…

    Google search used - http://www.google.com.au/search?q=invoice+free+open+source

OR Another simple solution is to create multiple sheets one with invoice excel template, one with receipt template etc.. (try http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/results.aspx?qu=…) and have the cells automatically fill in from the first sheet.

So in the first sheet you will enter the cutomers info and it will automatically get copied to the other templates. Just switch to each sheet and hit print. Not a long term solution but.
