  • Does it come rooted?

Techtablets does great reviews, no BS, straight to the point. If he says something is good usually he'd be on the money.

This looks like a great deal.

  • yeah i did my homework on these things. it is the best cheap tablet right now. performs as good as the Tab S3 which heaps more money.

    • +1

Do you mean the Samsung Tab S3 released in 2017?

      https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_s3_9_7-8554.php

      • yup. Though thats a Snapdragon 820. Top of the line processor for its time. Yeah didnt really hit Australia till late 2017 early 2018.

Just another look outperforms the S4 with the snapdragaon 835 from 2018 too.

Its on par with the Tab S5.

        • Thanks. See what you mean as my HTC 10 has same cpu and performed well for years too.

So this tablet with clean OS and 8GB ram should run pretty good today then.

  • hmm already have chromebook duet, is this a good step up/upgrade?

    • What do you use your Chromebook for?

      • watching plex, emails, browsing

        • +2

I think the Duet is fine for what you're using it for. It'll get plenty more updates too.

          • @Clear: just sometimes feel it is slow (maybe because i installed too many android app).
and feel abit heavy (but hey this is not $700 samsung tablet)
and a bit bigger (for reading manga and comics) is ideal (but then i have laptop)

            • +1

@CyberMurning: when I want to use Duet as a laptop yeah it's chunky, but gets the job done perfectly

when I want to use it as a tablet, I remove both keyboard and the backplate, and it's slim and light. try that for tablet mode.

Nope. The Duet is great in part because it's running Chrome OS rather than Android. Android on tablets is just something no-one is putting much thought into and very few companies develop apps for. Also, the SoC in this device is considered an entry level SoC. Finally, all streaming apps will only run in SD due to system limitations.

        yeah i guess so.
dont want to impulse buying too much
        pass.
or maybe wait for iplay 30 pro down to under $200

      • What does ChromeOS does better in a tablet?

saw the youtube review mentioned Alldocube iPlay 30 (and found the Pro model).
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001803595922.html?spm=a2…

looks good very high brightness, bigger screen, but seems weak helio processor…
but i supposed 40 series is better than 30 .

  • Description: "Bundle 1 、2、5 and 6: 8GB+128GB (iPlay 40 H)
    Bundle 3: Black 8GB+256GB with keyboard(iPlay 40 Pro)
    Bundle 4: White 8GB+256GB with keyboard(iPlay 40 Pro)"

If the code is for bundle 2, are we buying iPlay 40H rather than iPlay 40 Pro?

    • Yes that's been corrected. The only difference is the storage capacity.

  • This or the ali Lenovo P11? I guess it comes down to the processor in Lenovo and HD Prime/Netflix etc?

    • You get less RAM, storage in the P11 with a slightly smaller screen and Android 10. The other downside is that the Snapdragon 662 isn't quite as good as the UNISOC. However you will get security updates until 2023 (no Android 11), better battery life and local warranty.

There is a better P11 Pro on the way with the Snapdragon 730G, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage but I don't think it's arrived here yet. The Chinese model is already out so that's a good indication it's not far away.

      • Regarding the (no android 11) on P11 you might want to double check again.

        • Certainly wasn't there when I checked a couple of months ago. Good to see they've changed their minds. Hopefully those 3 regional variants include Australia.

          • @Clear: The TB-J606F is the Australian variant which I purchased last week and included there. I paid $299, did not expect the Android 11 but I checked their website and can find its on their roadmap. I use this for media consumption, and some online studies and overall happy with it. Battery life has been pretty good. Display is too reflective , thats the only thing I did not like but I guess I cant complain a tablet on that price range.

Based on my experience with the iPlay 20, I'd buy Alldocube again.

  • Have issues with iplay 20 restarting every now and then. Had issues on latest firmware, as well as the earliest available firmware which I rolled back to to regain gesture support. Others experiencing this with iplay 40 also, so just be wary.

    • What do you use gesture support for?

  • This compared to this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/649519

I know it's less RAM and storage but for someone who makes notes and my son watching Youtube and playing Roblox, is it worth the extra dosh? Also like that this mentions headphone support?

    Just asking?

  • Details about the bluetooth keyboard?

  • Lets say I do not care about the specs at all, just want the best screen available in this budget. What would you guys recommend?
All I want is to read books. I do have a kindle but it's not suitable for a lot of books
