Shipping a monitor SYD to Cairns

Hey Everyone,

Recently moved interstate for uni and was wondering what's the best way to ship my Dell U2711 monitor. The box is roughly 50x15x40cm IIRC and weighs 14-15kg all packaged up. Australia post's website has given me a quote of $55.25 for regular parcel with tracking&signature with extra cover of up to $750.

Are there any couriers that I can use to make a one off shipment and costs the same or a little bit more. I don't mind it costing that much more as long as I know that it won't be broken in transit.

I'm shipping it from Sydney to Cairns.

  • Fastway is about $36 including $1,500 insurance via ShippingEasy.com. Have booked using this site before when I had a warranty repair on something and had to send it myself. So can vouch for the site.

    • Good to know this site, thanks (you can bookmark mine for an alternative).

But GEEZE the ShippingEasy webpage is slow and clunky. It's making my machine run like a dog, I can hardly type or use it!

  • Broker via http://www.temando.com

    15kg 50x15x40cm Sydney 2000 to Cairns 4870

    Insurance $750

Australian Air Express = $40.78 incl GST

Extra 2% for paypal or credit card

You have to sign up to use it, but you can get a quote for free from the first page. Easiest way of dealing direct with couriers without having to prepay, etc.

    • Funny, ShippingEasy is fine for me. Thanks for the temando tip, but for what I had to send it was still more expensive and didn't want to sign up (still is this time). Also temando charge PayPal and credit card fees which just stinks. After all this is OzBargain :-)

      • Temando automatically integrates with Ebay, including the tracking info. So for me, that is worth a couple of extra bucks on some routes.

  • I'm flying back to Sydney soon, and was wondering what if I pad the monitor's box with a doona or thick blanket or something and send it as fragile in the checked luggage?

edit: nvm, in short, need to sign a waiver and if things go wrong it goes wrong.
