What is a good quality all round torch I can get?

Hey, just wondering what is a good quality all round torch I can get? I've been looking at led lenser p7 and m7r. Also maybe this maglite deal http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_…

Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have an Ultrafire C3 Cree flashlight, asides from being very compact (it has the ability to use only 1 AA battery, or 2AA's depending on whether the extension tube is used) it's also very cheap at $14 AUD. It's also quite bright and will put many torches in the same price range to shame.

My main gripes with it though is the contacts aren't very good, but nothing a little bit of foil paper can't fix. It might also need a bit of machine oil on the threads.

yeah, c8 owner, same issue. :/ build quality isn't good

Get a Maglite XL200 from Amazon.

    Great torch.

    I have the C3.
Not bad torch(bad connection) but the Maglite is a lot better.

The torches above are bright but they need to be cleaned.
The connection between the torch and battery is bad and sometimes they flicker and its quite annoying.

With the Maglite it uses a different connection system and it works very well.

Its also brighter than both of the above suggestions.

AND its made in the USA!

Here in Australia the XL200 is $150 at Australian Geographic shop but it can be had for $41 shipped from Amazon.

    • +1 to Maglite. Build quality & reliability shits all over the cheap Chinese junk.

I'm not sure about the COTD deal though OP, if you're after a 3D/4D I'm sure you could do better…by the time you factor in shipping you could buy one off the shelf at your local stores! If you're after a tactical light then as McG says the XL200 from Amazon would be the shizzle! :)

  • Thanks everyone for your suggestions, xl200 might be good for what I need
