Getting out of this swamp (Sydney) for a bit, what's cheap and nice in Australia at the moment?

It's been raining all bloody summer in NSW, so what the hell.

I'd like to take the girlfriend on a 4-5 day excursion …somewhere where only two things will be wet, one of them being the drinks.

Any ideas? For cheap? Non tacky?

If the other is the ocean (which I'm guessing it isn't) I've seen some decent flight specials from Sydney to Hamilton Island recently…
