    Looking for a Chest Freezer

I've had great success with this

  • They seem to be still in short supply. I suspect the profit margin on them is negligible, so they pretty much have sold the container before it arrives.

    • I think it's because of demand being high.

Inflation is going crazy at the moment and being able to store food long term will save a lot of money. Chest freezers are more attractive than upright ones as they cost much less to run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGAhWgkKlHI

I had to pay $4 for a cucumber the other day at woolies. For years they were $1.50. I'm looking at getting a chest freezer myself and stocking up. I see inflation getting getting much worse.

      • A year ago you couldn't get them at all off the shop floor, these days, they come available but sell out within a few days.

They're big, bulky items that sell for less than $500. There can't be much margin in them, so cheapest way to sell them is direct delivery off the boat, skip the retail step for as many as possible.
That's the way I'd run the business.

I was told it'd be a 6 week wait, actually waited 2 weeks, delivery was arranged by the manufacturer, not the store.

        ??
Frozen cucumber isn't going to end well!

      • $4 for a cucumber?

        Jesus.

I buy Lebanese cucumbers all year round and they are expensive at the moment, around $9-12 a kilo depending were you go. Even continental cucumbers are expensive. Offsets the cheap avocado at the moment.

I don't like the idea of a chest freezer. Unless you have access to free venison or get yourself a cheap whole cow, how much are you really saving by buying that much meat that you need a chest freezer?

Plus some products don't freeze very well, particularly cucumbers lol.

Do you really save that much buying in bulk?

        • they're super cheap to run. can stock up on whatever specials float your boat in the freezer section.

don't like the idea of it, lol.

          • @[Deactivated]: What really goes on sale on the freezer section that you need to stock up that much you need a chest freezer?

It's not like dried pasta or tinned foods that last years without sacrificing quality?

Why do you need to freeze your chest ?

  • I recommend at least 300L if you want to store a human. Just saying.

  • Costco has their 200L chest freezers in stock at $380 delivered.

  • How is Haier or Hisense compared to euromaid or any other brand?

    • @Fuzzy69 did you manage to find an answer to this? I'm looking now and I don't recognise half of these brands.

Are there any that are good value or any that I should avoid like the plague?

      Cheers
