  • For those on a budget there's also these ones for 50c - https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/97807/clea…

I've used cheap pegs before (not these ones specifically), personally I feel that pegs are one of those things you shouldn't cheap out on (leaves teeth mark or rust on clothes, becomes brittle after long outdoor exposure).

When Reva pegs were still made in Australia, they were well made and lasted many years in the sun. When they started manufacturing in China, the quality downgraded significantly and they no longer last as long and became brittle quicker. Maybe they saved alot of money and now they can sell more pegs. I have purchased the stainless steel pegs from Aldi which should last forever unless the spring loses tension. The great thing about the Aldi stainless steel pegs is that they are made from 316 Stainless Steel, which is extremely rust resistant compared to the ones sold by Coles/Woolies from time to time.

        • I highly doubt it has much to do with the location of manufacturing (China does the steel pegs as well) as oppose to the composition of materials that Reva management would had decided on - which was most likely in response to competion in the market, pricing and profits etc etc.

Were the Aldi pegs like these?

          • @eclaw: Yes, the shape and size look like these. The Sabco ones are made from 304 Stainless Steel and the Aldi ones made from 316 Stainless Steel.

        • Are they still on-sale or one of those fight the other shopper sales?

          • @RtN: They are typically on sale from Aldi, i think 2 times a year, whenever they have the 'Eco' product sales. They do get a fair bit of stock in, so there is sufficient stock for the day at least. I think they are a hidden gem, because of the superiority of having 316 Stainless Steel vs other ones which use 304 Stainless Steel. They will be better against the elements and should not rust at all.

Typically, there are Eco stores online which also sell the 316 Stainless steel pegs, but they charge significantly more than Aldi.

        • used these our whole lives when they were White, blue, red.

        • wont the steel be bad outside in direct sunlight? (burning clothes)

      • I dry most things inside so don't need to worry about outdoor environment. For 50c I'll give them a try and if I get 6 months out of them, then good enough.

I bought some of these a few weeks ago.
I don't mind them - but can't speak to their longevity yet.

Plastic pegs are going to deteriorate each summer. You don't think about it now, but in a couple of seasons they're going to painfully crumble in your fingers.

Get good quality metal or wooden ones.

    • Yeah I agree. I went to all metal pegs after the continual frustration of pegs breaking. Woolies has had metals ones on sale previously. Kmart has them at an ok price.

Just to clarify, are these the bigger Reva style pegs (or just normal pegs but maybe a bit stronger?). Thanks

  • I forgot who made them or what they were called but the best washing line pegs I have ever used were these bigger than normal sized ones that had like extra strength than the normal usual ones.

Can't remember who made them but they were big and the only peg I have used that didn't break or cause any problems.

I should try find out who made them because they were the best.

Possibly reva but maybe just a jumbo version of another brand.

    • did you find out?

      • No I have not yet sorry.

        • ok if/when u do i wanna know :)

          • @capslock janitor: Sure will do its slowly going into my forgotten list now though as i keep moving on.

Im using plastic ones from coles or woolworths now an d they seem to be ok.

Hope this helps in the meantime.
