Netflix Sound Quality Issue TV LG C1 - How to Fix It?

How do I fix bad Netflix sound quality?

My settings are for wall mount and playing around with settings but it still sounds strange and low compare to my PS5 and HDMI consoles. It sounds muffed or something.

Can someone help me? It's really bothering me, a cheaper TV can have better sound. I Googled but can't find anything.

Seriously invest in a soundbar or dedicated speakers. Apart from some of the TCL's with built in soundbar, tv speakers these days are absolute crap and a complete disservice to the C1

    • its for bedroom though and i dont have space, what speakers should i get?

I had a similar issue, it was due to my sound system accepting the wrong configuration from 5.1 sound. I only have 2 speakers so I think it was giving me the back speakers rather than the front.

Fiddle around with the sounds config on the TV, I changed my sound HDMI output to PCM and it was fixed.

    • i have tried.. i need a guide or something that works.

    • Likely settings issue as you seem happy with the speakers playing other content.

      • Yeah, perform a factory reset and start again.

Could be a setting on Netflix - maybe the sound setting within that app is incorrect?

Netflix defaults to 5.1 every time an episode starts
    Push down on your remote
    Select “other” from sound options
    Then choose English (original)
(English (original) 5.1 will be auto selected)

Had same issue for ages. This fixed it for me.

    • Yeah I think this is it.

  • You need a 3.1 or 5.1 or other sound system that has a dedicated centre channel for dialogue audio. Anything less, like 95% of soundbars on the market that are 2.1, and the dialogue audio will be mixed with the left and right sound effect/music channels, and will be slightly muffled.

Additionally, Netflix uses Dolby Digital for audio, which is much lower quality than say a bluray. There is less separation between dialogue and effects, and less volume differences, compared to your PS4 games. This difference is noticeable even on random 2-channel speakers such as your TV speakers, or if you have a surround sound system.

Recommend you also try the 'night mode' or whatever in Netflix audio settings. I dont have it, if someone can help out here. Or, you TV itself may have 'night mode' or 'reduce loud sounds mode' in the TV settings - try this.

    • but how did my hisense tv sound so much better then this? this is all muffed..
this sounds like a year1994 tv.

      • Did you check the comment above mine? Swap to stereo rather than 5.1?

Hard to say without hearing it but if it's just Netflix then my comment plus the one above would likely explain the very poor quality.

Unless for example on the Netflix 'input' you've borked your TV audio settings completely, e.g. equaliser, tone, treble, bass levels etc.

        • yes but still sounds lil muffed. and also i have to do it to every ep, and not every show has it
