COTD declined to honour the extended warranty

I bought TOSHIBA notebook from COTD last year. Unfortunately, two of keys came out (detached) from the keyboard

and I tried to clip it back, but failed.

I contacted the COTD and being advised to call Freightwise for returning the laptop

I contacted Freightwise this morning and being advised that they are not going to
honour the warranty?

Any help or suggestion?

    1. Call Crap of the Day back & tell them what has transpired, give them the opportunity to do the right thing. If you paid for that extended warranty then I'd be seeking a refund on that too!
    2. Call your local Dept of Fair Trading for advice.
    3. Stop shopping with COTD.
  • do you mean some key caps came off? don't they just pop back in if you align them properly?

I'm not sure what freightwise has to do with any warranty?
They basically cover the goods whilst they are in transit……

  • Did the keys fall out by themselves (unlikely), or did you do something to make them come out? That kind of damage isn't usually covered by warranty unless you can show that it's a manufacturing defect.

Agree with Andy. It seems like there was some miscommunication with COTD. Maybe they thought it was broken in transit. See link, http://www.freightwise.com.au/consumer-whatisFS.html

The FreightSafe Warranty Program allows people consigning goods in transit to warrant those goods for loss or damage while in transit.

Do extended warranties cover damage done by the user? I wouldn't have thought popped keys would be covered.

    • Yup talk to COTD because i think they did get it wrong but keys from keyboards are not covered. It's considered a cosmetic damage.

  • Are you saying the keys just fell out and broke themselves?

Still they might fix it, sounds like you didnt state what really happened….

Oh and you make it sound like they want you to send it back via frieghtwise so whats the problem.

  • I recently travelled from Sydney to Gold Coast, and the keys became loose (, and .)

I myself also don't know what happened (very weird).. the plastic beneath the key is intact
but it does not want to click on…
