Anyone Use/Participate in The Microsoft Rewards Program?

Just interested,

Anyone use/in the Microsoft Rewards program? It's just like answer a few questions/quizzes, click a few links and you get points which you can use towards a gift card or something. The fact that Microsoft as included a link in Settings says a lot. I had a first look at it yesterday, honestly seems like a big waste of time.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, press Windows Key+I and it should be in the top right hand corner (obviously, only if you have a Windows device).

Not interested in any rewards/opinions/surveys etc schemes. The effort vs reward is not balanced enough and/or they're designed to lock you into spending more within their ecosystem.

You need 5,000 Microsoft points to get a $5 gift card. You get 10 points for answering quizzes. No thanks.

I don't even use cashback schemes due the uncertainty & frustration involved. I'm sure others have different perspectives.

Pretty much this, though I do use Google opinion rewards, as it generally takes about 10 seconds or less and gives a reasonable award for time spent, which pays for my google one storage.

      • Same, Opinion Rewards is the only one I use too. Earlier today, answered a 1 question survey, easy 10 cents. Took less than 10 seconds. How much have you earned over the course of you using the app?

        • $147 apparently. 615 surveys. Roughly 24c per survey. If it takes approx 10-20 seconds per survey, that's $43-$86 an hour average.

          • @brendanm:

            $147 apparently. 615 surveys.

Over how long a period? I've only received 83 surveys over the course of roughly 2 and a half years.

@CrispyChrispy: Started July 2016, though until recently, and getting Google one, I let a lot of the surveys lapse as I just couldn't be bothered, and don't have much to buy from Google. Generally the only things I buy is the Navionics app yearly, and now Google one.

              • @brendanm: I used them for disney+ subscription, you can do this by purchasing the subscription through disney+ android app.

How do you get surveys there?? I dont get a single survey on Opinion Rewards

          • @USER DC: Damn this is an old thread lol

I don't get any more, not so for the last few months or year or so or maybe since around this post. I still have the app on my phone but haven't touched it in a long long time.

      • They are totally different, Google using rewards to track your daily living in the community, MS rewards is just giving you $10-15 a year just for using Bing.

Sounds like a terrible deal 😋

  • I make about $10 a year from MS, about $50 from Google

Pity MS don't do JB hifi anymore.

I use it. There's an add-on you can download so it does all the work for you (including answering quizzes).

Redeemed it for some Microsoft store credit (to save some money on my 10 Pro upgrade) and DJs gift cards so far. My 365 subscription renewal's coming up next month; should redeem more points for more store credit …

    • What's this add on you speak of?

      • It’s a Firefox add-on, but I think it can no longer be downloaded

I use it, you can also earn a decent amount of points using the app on your Xbox, and if you have Game Pass there's also Quests where you can earn points which you can then use for Game Pass subscriptions and stuff.

  • I have 53,060 Available points with a total of 118,496 lifetime points.

It's a lot less fun then it used to be. I used to get 150+ points a day for like 5mins of effort. No longer can you search for Bing sucks + a string of numbers and letters delete or add one a chracter hit enter and repeat. Change browser to mobile mode and repeat congrats 150 points for basically refreshing your browser. Now it has to be completely new things you haven't searched for before. :(
Also the rewards themselves have been nerfed. Bye bye days of 12 months xbox gold for ~24,000 points. See former offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/450913

Even though I no longer get points for searching I haven't dropped before 500 points for any month. Currently on You've earned 959 points this month! You'll stay Level 2.

    • Use a browser add-on. Does the searching for you. I use this one. Currently on 2950 points earned this month.

Edit: dead links :( Hopefully there's another one floating around online

  • I used to love it for buying music from their music store. But then that closed. So now I just use Bing and accumulate points. At 26000 now.

  • Not anymore. Used to use it daily in the US a few years ago and got lots of points for $5 gift cards and free Xbox Live Gold. Had used auto searches as well, but those accounts got banned / suspended.

In the end I think I searched on desktop, then ctrl-clicked all the related links when I searched for something random, it was pretty painless tbh.

  • There was a time I used to use this every day. I managed to earn $115 in a year, and bought a mouse on an excellent deal (which I found on OzBargain). I became so efficient at doing it, it took me 2 minutes per day.

It was honestly a lot of fun, and I got my friends to do it with me as well hahaha. I haven't done it in AGES now tho

I used mine for 3 years & suddenly my rewards account got suspended for no reason. Support team just replied back with generic, robotic response.

No more Bing search for me, back to Google.

    • Damn, haven't received a reply before on a thread I posted more than half a year ago.

That's rather odd that they would do that, sorry to hear it. How many points did you have? Did you redeem any for gift cards or anything?
