Google Pixel 4a 5G, Likely to See < $600 Again?

Hi OzBargainers,

Are we likely to see the Pixel 4a 5g end up going for <$600 as per previous telstra deals or is there likely to be no stock and needing to wait until Pixel 5a or 6 are realeased into Australia?

Partner wants a new phone with a decent camera and we were targeting around the $600 mark.

Cheers,

John

Welcome to OzCrystalBall, a reader will be along shortly

  • Why not get the Samsung S21 deal?
Its $65 per month including the phone, photos will be similar and the size is the same. roughly $780 over 12 months….

  • The Pixel 5a won't be released in Australia.
I was looking for a 4a for my wife but Google Australia don't seem to have any of the 4a or 4a 5G in stock anymore.

Not sure about what's left through the telcos. I haven't been on a real plan for 10 years.

  • Releasing the Pixel 6/6 Pro won't effect the pricing for the 4A 5G. Flagship VS midranger. Totally different markets.
Shame the 5a isn't being released in Oz due to supply issues… i'm assuming because of Covid, so it is only being released in the USA and Japanese markets…

My crystal ball points to no discounts to be had anytime soon as stock seems to be pretty low for the 4a/4a 5g, unless you can snag a deal via ebay, ATM no-one is really selling it at all last time I checked.

  • No stock and it's been discontinued despite there being no direct replacement for Aus market. Looks like you're stuck trying to find old new stock or secondhand

  • I'm just salty that the 5 is being discontinued. The wife has one and I totally love how relatively small it is! I suppose the market has spoken and small high performance handsets are dead in the water. I'm still on my 3a, but am honestly worried what to switch to when that kicks the bucket.

  • I'm also waiting for a price drop for either the 4a 5g or the 5. I specifically want either of these two because I'm after the unlimited storage saver for Google Photos. Fingers crossed Telstra or Google Store discounts it again before the 6 release.

    • They can't sell what they don't have. THe JUne sell off my Telstra was literally to get rid of stock that would look old before the new models come on. I was luck and got the 4a5G from Telstra for $549. Unfortunately within 2 months I had dropped it in my pool and drowned it. I bought a 2nd hand 3XL (which is great and waterproof) and will probably go for the Pixel 6 when it hopefully gets some price drops middle of next year.

  • Our Corporate phones are still being offered the 4a 5G. Not sure where they get their stocks. I assume straight from Brightstar.

    • There's defs no stock there. I heard there's little to no stock left in Aus so not sure.

Thanks all, I've managed to snag one secondhand tried all the retailers and wanted to avoid going back on a plan. Have been on Boost long expiry for years now and the value is unsurpassed in my opinion.

    • whats the boost plan you are on and how did you get it?
