Epic sequel to the Sunday Times bestselling KING OF ASHES and must-read fantasy book of 2020!

Dark and powerful forces threaten the world of Garn once more in this second novel in legendary New York Times bestselling author Raymond E. Feist’s epic fantasy series, the Firemane Saga

Hatushaly and his young wife Hava are living a good life, working to reopen the burned-out Inn of the Three Stars in the prosperous trading town of Beran's Hill.

But there is a great deal more to this bucolic scene than meets the eye. Both Hatu and Hava were raised on the secret island of Coaltachin, and though they may appear to be no more than a young couple in love, preparing for the midsummer festival where their friends Declan and Gwen will be wed, they are in fact assassins on a mission, waiting instructions from their masters in the Kingdom of Night.

Moreover, Hatu is the last remaining member of the ruling family of Ithrace – the legendary Firemanes. He dyes his flaming red hair, and has studied to control his dangerous magical powers. But however hard Hatu may be hiding from all those who would seek to use or to destroy him, fate has other plans.

Horrific events are approaching Beran's Hill, bringing death and devastation to the peaceful town as unknown and monstrous forces are unleashed. And nothing will ever be the same again.

Goodreads rating 4.28/5 from 3,134 ratings.

Great book if you like fantasy. I highly recommend almost everything by Feist, starting with Magician

I miss the Magician series. The first book series I ever really got into.

    • How does this fit into the whole midkemia series? I got stuck around the foxes book and lost my momentum. Can I pick up this series or do I need to finish the others?

      • +1

It's a new series set in a new universe (they finished with Magician's End), but I wouldn't recommend it if you got bored at that point with Midkemia books. His writing hasn't been that great since Serpentwar finished tbh.

        • I didn't get bored as such, I ran out of books and then forgot what had happened when the next one came out haha. Good advice but, I may pop into dymocks when it's on sale and have a read of the first few pages to see what it's like.

          • @incipient: You can read the first few pages on Amazon for free now

  • Loved the first one and hadn't even realised book 2 was out.

  • The paperback is $9 as well if you prefer physical copies.

  • The first one took me a bit of time to get into.
But I thoroughly enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
