Galaxy S21 Calls Questions

I got the S21 on Tday, and it's my 1st samsung for a long time. Have a few Qs

When I end a call, there doesn't seem to be any notification. Old phones seem to beep when the line is cut, but I don't hear that now. I tried the ringtone on/off and it's still silent when ending - but vibrates. Where's the setting for the beep? I sometimes use buds and leave the phone on the table so I don't feel the vibe and talk after the line's cut.

Is there a way to record calls? Not using the speakerphone & mic but like old time when android could do it.

Is there a way to set per-person ringtones, and also set some people to NOT ring. The people who don't ring would be like they're blocked, but they could still SMS and leave voicemail.

What other tips do you have on how to use the calls part of the phone?

That's the least of your problems mate wait till the phone starts having any issues that require service. Samsung considering its size is the WORST at HONOURING WARRANTY. To get an idea, the WORD 'replacement' is literally not in their dictionary. I had a s6 which I was using as my main phone without problems for about a year and a bit and one night I plugged it into the Official charger only to wake up the next morning with a fully unresponsive device. I then went to a their Store ( which is btw more like a permanent stall inside Westfield) and the EXPERT there had a look at the phone. While checking the charging pin and the repeatedly banged the phone on his table as if the dust would fall out charging pin area by doing that. Then he again tried to charge the device to no success. Later he looks at the glass back and says there's a crack in glass at the bottom so physical damage meaning warranty is void. But He is the one who had done it by banging the phone on the table bottom first!!!! They sent to repair centre anyway and 2 weeks later replied we have found water damage indicators activated inside phone so we can't repair.
    Basically:
    * They waste your time repairing instead of replacing
    * They waste your time by disagreeing that you're issue is covered under warranty
    * They waste your time by their stores not being capable of service but rather they send all to Sydney olympic park and then back to the store, furthermore after it goes to Sydney Olympic Park they can claim things like water damage that customers have no way verifying.
    * They waste your time by having an insufficient amount of staff to handle the amount of cases that they get which has been the case for a long time but now they will blame it on COVID

^ not related to your issue but it's worth knowing

    • I then went to a their Store ( which is btw more like a permanent stall inside Westfield)

      What's your point here?

But He is the one who had done it by banging the phone on the table bottom first!!!!

Are you absolutely sure he caused the damage? It seems very unlikely that the employee would be forceful enough to damage a customer's device.

They sent to repair centre anyway and 2 weeks later replied we have found water damage indicators activated inside phone so we can't repair.

The phone didn't have an IP rating so that's fair enough. Or are you trying to find a way to suggest the service centre got your phone wet?

      • They waste your time by their stores not being capable of service

What brand offers service (repairs) at their physical store?

        1. Samsung sold 23% of phones bought in AUS in Q2 2020 which means they have a fair amount of users here and so they need to have reasonably sized/staffed stores in order to assist them.
(SAMSUNG SYDNEY is an actual store but others are stalls)
        2. I concede that I may sound like an unreliable narrator but I'm absolutely sure he caused the damage.
        3. It was a hand me down phone from my dad and am also unsure about the sensitivity about the water damage indicators but what I can say is
          * never been submerged in any level of water
          * been to hot countries with phone in pocket of jeans and o so probably exposed to slight moisture but wouldn't
o expect phone to break (April- May)
          * no exposure prior to breakdown so water may not be to o blame but the first thing they check is probably the
          o indicators and then stop.

Apple Bondi (not HQ) offered to replace XR because volume buttons were glitchy after 5 minutes
Logitech No stores, sent Replacement Home Theatre worth $500 within 7 days of first contact.
Amazon: no stores Replaced Echo Show 8 after 1 call

        • Dell has no stores but sends repair guy to house for a $500 laptop

Only if you've paid extra for that service. If you don't you have to send you laptop away to be repaired. Just like Samsung.

You're aware that it's well within consumer law for a company to repair a faulty item rather than replacing it? I get that you had a s$%tty experience but I'm sure you're well aware that it can happen with any company.

Thanks for the stat. What is reasonably sized/staffed stores to you? You went to their physical store. Someone inspected your phone, sent it to the repair centre, inspected it there, returned it without repair due to evidence of user damage.

I concede that I may sound like an unreliable narrator but I'm absolutely sure he caused the damage.

If you were sure, then you should have raised that concern and insisted they repair the damage they caused there and then.

It was a hand me down phone from my dad and am also unsure about the sensitivity about the water damage indicators but what I can say is

That's a big issue there. Can you still claim that you're 100% sure it's never had contact with water? If it's been in your ownership the whole time then sure, that claim can be more believeable. This is not that that I don't trust your dad specifically, but just that you can't be sure of what the phone has been through in someone else's use.

Dell has no stores but sends repair guy to house for a $500 laptop

Laptops (depending on model) are much more easily repaired, plus it depends on whether you paid for that level of service. Screwdriver to open a panel or two and off you go. Phones are very sensitive to dust etc and take longer to open up for repairs. No phone manufacturer has a home repair service.

Apple Bondi (not HQ) offered to replace XR because volume buttons were glitchy after 5 minutes

After 5 minutes of ownership from the same store? That sounds normal. Your example is a phone that has been used for over 12 months.

Logitech No stores, sent Replacement Home Theatre worth $500 within 7 days of first contact.

Relevance to your case? Brand new? Used for one year? Some much context is missing here and it's a completely different type of item but good on Logitech for sending replacements.

Amazon: no stores Replaced Echo Show 8 after 1 call

Same as above. No context whatsoever. Amazon are known to be fast at replacing things. I ordered something that arrived with damaged packaging (contents were fine but item was intended as a gift). They sent me a replacement for free without needing to return the original.

    • Had my S10 screen suddenly go blank. Phone would still reboot etc but no screen meant it was useless. Phone was literally a few days outside of warranty period and they took the phone, sent it and it got repaired and back within a week.

Never had a problem with Samsung phones prior or since!

    1. Call end tone: Phone keypad>3dots top right >settings >call alerts

    2. Unsure

    3. You can change individuals ring tone in their contact information.

    • individuals ring tone works. It seems there's no way to do custom vibrations? Specifically no vibration for 1 person.

      • Custom vibrations for calls/notifications are possible. Don't think you can set them for specific people though.

You'll need to app SoundAssistant in the Galaxy Store. It's by Good Lock Labs which is made by Samsung.

          cool, this is so great

You can set individual vibration patterns in the contact info edit page for each person, might have to press "view more"
