      • I'm in Sydney, don't think we can go outside the 5km.. i'll have to check it out

  • Thanks OP, picked up one this afternoon.

  • How's this compared to the King's 50l fridge what is at $464 delivered?

I love a lot of Kings stuff but I find they aren't very durable, not built all that great and have a low year warranty.

At this price point, it makes more sense to go the Dometic, however when it isn't on such a massive sale like it is now, the Kings fridge is a great entry point.

    • The kings will use more power and probably have things like lid hinges fail quicker.

    • The Kings you've linked is bargain basement. This Dometic is in a different league. Key differences:

      • Dometic has a Secop compressor vs Kings no-name compressor
      • Build quality on the Dometic is vastly superior
      • 3 years warranty for the Dometic vs 1 year for the Kings
      • External powerpacks needed for the Kings vs all integrated for the Dometic
      • Power draw is likely to be a considerable amount less for the Dometic

A closer comparison would be this Kings fridge that has better build quality and a Secop compressor, but costs nearly $700 - https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/camping/fridge-freezers/kin…

This has a comparison with the Dometic and the last gen Kings fridge, and shows the power difference and build quality between the two - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFk0WsLmYxI

  • Thanks OP, bought one, manged to get discount using gift card as well :)

  • Would one of these be good to power the fridge while the engine is not on? https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-12v-1900-amp-8-c…

which store and was there plenty?

      • Apologies for late reply. Ordered in the morning of 16 Sept and picked up at 4pm from BCF Port Adelaide. I am not sure if there're stocks available now seeing its 29 Sept. I like the item for what it's worth. Cheers

cheers, ended up with one of the last few from aldi in the state. the 60 day return is handy as well.

  • Purchased using a 10% off voucher and cashrewards for a very palatable $435. Thanks OP!

    • How did you get a 10% discount? Or maybe it expired already because i can't find it.

  • Thanks for the post, ordered today, along with cashback.

I have an old Engel, which is awesome, but it draws too much when free camping. Will be keeping that for other uses.

  • Not sure how it compares to an Evakool KoolMate 55L Fridge/Freezer - KM55 currently $399 in QLD from Repco

Picked it up today. Went from room temp (17C) to 3C in 10 mins. Got it loaded up as a second fridge now until lockdown is over and I can go out camping again. What a bargain this was!

I had the Waeco/Dometic CFX 40 and it was so temperamental. It would switch off shortly after stopping even though the 2nd battery had been fully charged. Another friend had same issue same model. I bought an Australian made Evakool and is better. One thing I do like the look of with this new CFF45 design is the easy opening lid from either side so you don't need to take off and reverse it. Good feature that works well if you have a fridge slide out the back of your 4wd and want to be able to also access it via the canopy window or just simply from either side.

  • Bought one, pickup from local store tomorrow

  • These are all but sold out in Brisbane

    • Starting to pop up again in Brisbane. Ordered one last night from loganholme 20mins drive from me. Annoyingly, an hour later my local store 5 mins from me had some in stock too.

      • Yeah, also if you're in a bcf store, you can ask them to check stock levels at other stores - this is wildly different to what shows on their website

      • Yea I saw some in the Goldie pop up and then all sold out within the day lol luckily still Burleigh left so I grabbed a click and collect

If anyone is interested in this, with 10% discount (and delivered) let me know as i have some gift card that i need to use up.

  • Has anyone found a low-form bracket to replace the handles for this fridge? Unfortunately the handles make this too big to fit in my boot and obviously I want to tie it down.

    • Interested in this too. Also interested to know how you are powering?

      • Dual battery, I have a 4wd.

    • MSA have these: https://msa4x4.com.au/catalogue/spare-parts/fridge-tie-down-…

I don't know about stock availability.

      • I found a place in Sydney with stock but they want $20 postage so I'll keep looking.

I think I'll use a bit of chain between upper and lower screws, and tie down off that.

        • There's also a review on YouTube from Snowys which states there are M6 nutserts on the bottom of the fridge for use with a fridge slide.

  • Finally saw them pop back in stock so bit the click and collect bullet
