Starting a Bicycle Repair Workshop - Insurance Type and General Advice Needed

Hi all, I’m looking to start my own bicycle repair business just out of my parent’s garage located in Queensland.

I’ve registered my business and obtained an ABN and also secured my domain. I’m looking into getting some insurance for my business. So far I’ve figured that I need a public liability insurance. Are there any other insurances I should be looking into?

I’ve started looking at insurance comparing websites but they don’t seem to have “Bicycle repair/servicing/maintain” in their list of Occupations. Any recommendations on insurance companies that provide this sort of insurance?

TLDR: Starting a Bicycle Repair/Servicing/Maintenance business out of home garage and looking for types of insurances needed.

Thanks for reading.

Try a business insurance broker. They will get multiple quotes and can consolidate public liability and other needed insurances together.

Maybe look at what mechanic shops would have as it'd be similar though there's probably some cover you can skip if it's just you and a side gig. General liability (public may not be enough, you should look into in more detail) and theft covering your tools and customers bikes/property are the obvious big ones.
