Dental Crown Cost

Hi guys, I've been quoted $1600 for a dental crown in Brisbane. I just wanted to know if this is reasonable or if anyone has found a cheaper dentist. Thanks!

    $999 but I’m sure there’s a catch

Ps this took about 5 seconds of google

  • Investigate the CERAC process …milled from a block of ceramic via 3D scan. have had several and they work well, but might have some limitations due to very poor base teeth.
Process is quite simple and fast around 1-2 hrs, not certain as to current costing? ask around.

  • Mine was about $1700 I think, that was a porcelain fused to metal, lab made crown.

CERAC crowns are usually cheaper, since they are made in house and no temporary tooth is required.

End of the day it will depend on which tooth it is, and what process is used to make it.

  • -1

Officeworks will beat quoted prices by 10%, but on the other hand I'm pretty sure they don't do dental.

  • I have paid $1500 each year for the last three years for a single crown in Canberra. In Canberra it’s my belief that for these type of medical / dental costs we tend to pay more than the rest of capital cities

  • If you fancy a trip up north and have health insurance Coolum Beach Dental won't charge you anything above the amount the health fund cover.

All my family have used them and they're quite professional, and we travelled from Sydney each time!!

    • In case it wasn't obvious, the cost of a crown here is FREE.

  • Looking for a gold crown in Sydney if there’s any recommendations. Don’t mind paying more for quality work (nervous patient). My dentist has recently retired, Covid gave him a push I think.

  • $1500 from my dentist in Melbourne

  • $1800 in Sydney for a porcelain crown for a back tooth.
The price also depends on which tooth you are getting crowned, and the prep required (e.g. a post?) and the material.

  • I was quoted $1600 for a crown recently as well, item 613 All porcelain crown. This was at BUPA dental Toowoong.
The whole appointment was quite a bit different to what I have been used to at dentists. I went through two stages of rooms with different technicians. The first was the general cleaning and scraping kinda thing, in which they recommended I get a crown and a 965 occlusal splint ($556) as my rear tooth has slight cracks on x-ray. From there I went into another room with another person (I think this was the dental hygienist they called it). This is where I had my fluoride treatment, which consisted of literally getting some goo squirted in my mouth and told to swish around and spit. That was it, none of the normal fluoride application with a tool that I was used to.

I have been looking at upping my extras to cover a crown as my current doesn't include major dental, it is pretty basic extras. I have also been thinking of getting Invisalign or similar but the PHI almost doesn't seem worth it to up for a crown or Invisalign.
